Toe nails horribly stained from polish. How do I unstain them/avoid this happening?

Apart from using a base coat. Which doesn't work. Sigh.

This happens every year: nail polish goes on late spring, always with a base coat, and is changed regularly throughout the summer. Come the autumn, my toenails are yellow, and look bloody awful - as though I've been chain-smoking, holding the fags with my feet.

So I leave the polish off from the end of flip-flop weather through to the late spring, by which time the yellow hasn't quite grown out, so back on goes the polish again - and so the cycle continues.

Quite nice feet and toenails without this problem!

So firstly, can I get rid of the stains that are already there, and secondly, how do I stop this from happening this year?

Thanks.

Nail Envy is expensive but brilliant, it will stop them staining.

Is that true WWTW? Holy grail if it is.

Twoddle - have started wearing paler colours as it reduces this problem but prefer bright red.

can you try filing the surface of nails gently, like when you buff fingernails ?

I use Yello-out, its a base coat, whitener and strengthener in one.
I got it in Sallys but have seen similar ones in the nail section in Boots and Superdrug.

To get rid of the stains try soaking feet in hot water and bicarb - need to do it till your feet wrinkle!
Or try rubbing with a quater of a lime or lemon - might have to do it for a few nights in a row.

Good luck.
