What the hell should I wear to a book launch?

U've been to press do's before, but never a book launch. It's the mumsnet one next week.

I have an outfit in mind, it's a purple skirt, multi layered (with layers pinned up in an artsy fartsy way) with the layers falling from just below knee to mid thigh. Then a long sleeved scooped neck black cashmere jumper. Thick black ribbed tights and black very high mary janes.

Does this sound alright?

(p.s you haven't seen me here I'm supposed to be having a semi flounce)

That sounds lovely DWP!

Thanks soapbox. I'm just worried it;s too dressy, or not dressy enough. I wish Morningpaper would tell me what she's wearing.

Mwanhaha- spotted you! I like the sound of the outfit though- skirt sounds a bit piratey (in a good way) - is this a look you have found works for you in the past? Hot hot hot

It is a piratey skirt. Hard to describe but it's cotton with silky bits, in three tiers with random bits hitched up. I likes.

You are nortty bof.

(you aint seen me alright!?)

I think it sounds just right TBH - dressy enough but quite classy! Cashmere always looks good and high Mary Janes look good. If you wanted to ramp it up a bit you could wear purple tights!

Thanks soapbox. I might just ramp it up with a couple of charm bracelets and a long necklace.
