i was rather
who are you? (I mean OBV I know who Karl is but who are YOU)

i was once in tatler with my mate sticking our heads in fountains and flicking them back - it was a great photo and we both pretended to be mortified but were secretly rather pleased

KarlWrenbury · 28/01/2009 13:50

Tbh i was the World's Worst Goth. And it all stopped in 1988 when a hairdresser mentioned my school uniform( was in sulky long black skirt and sweater).
I thought " fgs I look shit" and became, er,.. normal.

Mine was black velvet bodice with thin straps and a bolero type thing over it ... and a BRIGHT blue silky skirt - mid-calf.

I thought I looked gorgeous!

ILiketoMarmiteMarmite · 28/01/2009 13:50

Everyone always pretended to be disgusted when their picture was in somewhere.

CountessDracula · 28/01/2009 13:50

i was crap too
I couldn't do miserable for long than about 2 seconds (someting to do with all the speed maybe? )

fircone · 28/01/2009 13:50

A typical 80s one was puce pink with black furry spots, boned all the way down.

My fave was from a boutique called Zoo in Watford. It was slinky black material and then lace below the thigh.

sagacious · 28/01/2009 13:51

Not a ball dress.. more a slut dress.. a pink fluro dress (so short it was really a belt) in that sort of stretchy bubble material, accessorised with white sling back stilletto's .. and worn to Hollywoods in Romford

[shame] x 1000

KarlWrenbury · 28/01/2009 13:51

KarlWrenbury · 28/01/2009 13:52

A lot of black 10 denier tights and black suede court shoes.

OR I remember having shoes covered in the same material as my dress . The heels in the morning were shredded and mucky from dancing on cobbles somewhere, my mother was furious, she'd paid.

WEESLEEKITLauriefairycake · 28/01/2009 13:54

A bit like Tigerschick

1988 - Black velvet boned strapless dress, with an allover self printed pattern with glitter.

Knee length, tight - I had a size 10 figure with 36D breasts in this strapless dress.

My dads friends muttered jail bait when I walked past.

CountessDracula · 28/01/2009 13:54

yes the burnt orange one was in fact run up by some crone

You should have seen my dotty ps one
it put the crone one to shame (and didn't run in fountains)

ILiketoMarmiteMarmite · 28/01/2009 13:54

I had a black & blue & white patterned sheath dress from D. Perk with a fishtail at the bottom. Photos I look like complete corpse.

OK I'm finishing up! Is too distressing.

CountessDracula · 28/01/2009 13:55

and I bet it didn't run in fountains now did it?

KarlWrenbury · 28/01/2009 13:55

who had those pointy shoes ( goth suede flat) from camden market? I wasnt allowed em

ILiketoMarmiteMarmite · 28/01/2009 13:57

hoxtonchick · 28/01/2009 13:57

i had a burnt orange one too cd.... taffeta i think. the horror.

ILiketoMarmiteMarmite · 28/01/2009 13:58

I still have 3 of my dresses from age of about 16 - 18 and 2 that I wore in college (they were vintage beauties, waist would hardly go round my wrist now).

fircone · 28/01/2009 13:59

I had LOADS of clothes when I was a teenager (I was spoilt!). I so wish I had kept them as I had 'em all: the flying suits, the tiered skirts, the knickerbockers, frilled blouses, divided skirts, etc etc. My wardrobe must be filling an entire landfill site.

Today my wardrobe wouldn't even fill a wheely bin.

KarlWrenbury · 28/01/2009 13:59

adn you slobbered all over spotty yoofs and smoked silk vut

OP posts:
traceybath · 28/01/2009 14:01

oooh fircone - i'd forgotten my yellow flying suit and green cord pedal pushers - they were coooool

Simplysally · 28/01/2009 14:01

I had a purple and black dress for a company dinner n dance - the top was wraparound style but didn't actually unwrap iyswim with a purple flowery wide skirt plus net underskirt.

I was 17 and about a size 10. I probably looked about 40 . All the other girls had fitted cocktail dresses on.

I threw it out a few years ago - wish I'd kept it now for my dd to have for dressing-up.

fircone · 28/01/2009 14:01

What WAS with the one dance and then snogging someone business? The very thought of it now makes me sick on the spot.
