Do you shave/ razor cut your DS hair?

My DS has his hair cut (scissors) every 4 weeks, when DH gets his done. I like it short but hate the idea of a crew cut - think he would need an earing with it (oops - no offense anyone). I can understand the joy of diy haircuts, but do think they make boys look "tough", even on a no4-6. Am I alone here?

I think I agree with emmatmg - it must depend on the shape of head - also ds1's hair is really fine or not as dense or something so it doesn't stick up quite so much.

Borrow a set of clippers from someone, stick a video on for him, start at the longer settings and work your way shorter until you're happy with the result. If it looks terrible then hair grows pretty fast anyway.

TBH, I wish I could say it's a cost saving exercise for us - but I started doing clippers because ds1 used to go BEZERK if anyone went near his head with scissors - even chocolate bribery didn't work. It was less painful all round to distract him with telly and give a quick buzz round at home.

I imagine when he's at school though and becomes more image conscious he wouldn't be seen dead with a cut done by mummy
