I've realised recently that I'm fatter than I've ever been and that all the clothes I own are awful!

Okay, it's not that bad, I'm a size 10 (on the verge of size 12) with great legs, slim hips but no waist and quite a flat chest. I do love clothes and fashion, I'm only 24 and I work in an office so need to be fairly smart but no need for suits etc.

Please can anyone give me some direction/inspiration?! I'm so tired of my black trousers and grey jumpers!

Is this too casual? Opague tights, maybe belt, platform shoes?
oasis short shirt dress

worn with chiffon blouse under, oasis dress would create more curves

I can't wear anything tailored - either too big on the bust or too small on the waist!

I like the shirt dress but I couldn't possibly wear a belt with it... Unless maybe it was low slung on the hips...

Oh and my other problem is that I really feel the cold at work, sitting at a desk, I've gotten used to wearing three or four layers every day!

How about...

Black skirt/ trousers. Definitely a skirt if you have great legs. And heels if you can bear it.
Plain black top.

AND

red/ pink/ other exciting colour that suits your colouring jacket. A swing one if you want to avoid problems with the fit.

and snazzy jewellery eg. chunky plastic coloured beads, interesting modern stuff.

It's my uniform. Once I put the black base on, then it tends to be easy because I only need to find a) jacket and b) jewellery, to make the outfit. At six in the morning with no inspiration.

I guess although you said you don't have to wear a suit, a jacket helps to keep you warm!

HTH.

I'm afraid I'm sort of with Trinny and Susannah on that - I don't like black with colour. I often wear all black, or black with grey/white/other non-descript shade, but definitely no brights!

I'd really like to get away from black all together!

Ooh yes anniemac, I do love tunics and 60's style stuff! I love the topshop dress especially. I'm beginning to feel inspired

Well thanks to you I've ordered £300 worth of clothes from Topshop (on the assumption that most of it won't fit and will have to be taken back)
