Static-tastic dress

What's the trick for de-static-ing a dress? I feel like I'm conducting electricity today - will be turning into Bride of Frankenstein any time soon so stand well back!

Wash it and do a double rinse - it's probably got detergent left in it.

rub a metal coathanger under the dress

It's ridiciculously a dry clean only number - acetate and polyester from All Saints - that'll teach me to try and be edgy at work.

quick spritz of hair spray over tights or whatever you are wearing beneath dress will stop it. I tried this trick on Friday night when fresh dry-cleaned silk dress was sticking to my Wolfords in v unattractive manner! Worked a treat.

I like the hairspray tip - it's definitely done somehting! I was very cautious about applying it, so I might go and top it up a little as there's still a bit of static in the air. It's more staticy that clingy, I can almost hear it crackling - very odd.
