New yummy man has invited me to London this weekend for drinks with his chums (solicitors) - don't know what to wear, I'm 21, will be casual, so nice jeans - shirt, jumper and leather jacket?

perfect - far better to be casual rather than tarted up IYKWIM.

Also Londoners don't get dressed up to go out!

Have fun.

Remember Solicitors are not 'all that'!

onlywantsone · 21/01/2009 09:34

... I'm kinda hoping my new man is "all that" and more

Definately nice jeans, heels, shirt/ top, jacket, maybe nice colourful scarf.

TheRealMrsJohnSimm · 21/01/2009 09:56

Sounds perfect. I lived in London for many years and rarely got super-dressed up on the weekend for drinks on the weekend. I also worked at a law firm so I second Cioccolata's POV that lawyers are not "all that"! Altho sincerely hope your new man will be

CioccolataCalda · 21/01/2009 14:03

obviously new man has to be 'all that' just didn't want you to major on Solicitor 'types' being anything to impress. Most are quite dull, apart from the edgy criminal defence types. IMO

Nice shoes or boots are a must. No New Look rubbish

KristinaM · 21/01/2009 14:26

nothing sexy

no short skirt with high heels or cleavage

woudl guess they will be in boring office clothes, suits etc

onlywantsone · 23/01/2009 15:02

so, really lovely new jeans (from next)
they're high wasted and boot cut - with lovely grey cashmere sweater, and jacket? That'll do?

Jeans (if they are nice slim dark ones) will be fine, preferably with boots not shoes. A nice figure-hugging but not revealing top would be good too, and a lovely statement necklace.
