If you were going to a wedding, would you always buy a new outfit?

IF so, why?
I don't mean a wedding where you're the mother of the bride, just where you're a guest.

I would wear whatever i had in the wardrobe that suited - I don't go out much so have 1 'wedding' outfit, 1-2 'dinner' outfits, 1 funeral outfit, 1-2 smart/casual etc etc etc

I certainly don't buy new every time. I'm not even bothered if people have seen the dress before. Some of my going-out clothes are 10 years old.

(And I have a pair of jeans from the 1970's )

No of course not.

EldonAve · 17/01/2009 18:57

depends on what's in the wardrobe already, the season etc and if it's going to be the same or similar group of guests again

helsy · 17/01/2009 18:58

I would, because I don't go to many weddings and it would be an excuse to buy something new!

AliceTheCamelHasGotTheHump · 17/01/2009 18:59

Nope. I'd only buy something if I didn't have anything suitable to wear.

I might buy something new if it was a really important wedding and I wanted a new wow outfit to feel fab in.

nowwearefour · 17/01/2009 18:59

definitely not. if i can possibly get away with wearing the same thing a thousand times I would! Usually that does not work for one reaon or another (recently being pregnant or breastfeeding have played their part but tht is behind me now!). Fortunately i had two winter weddings this year with different guests so can wear the same outfit to both!

tattycoram · 17/01/2009 18:59

No, if I've got something I can already wear I thank my lucky stars taht I don't have to schlep around trying to find something

LoveMyLapTop · 17/01/2009 19:00

Not if I can get away with it!

KristinaM · 17/01/2009 19:03

i agree with tattycoram

unless i was the bride of course

samsonara · 17/01/2009 19:34

No, not if something else was suitable.

IAmTheNewQueenOfMN · 17/01/2009 19:36

no, cant afford to, have to make do

nkf · 17/01/2009 20:05

Oh good. I thought it was just me who didn't shop for specific events.
