Still glad I didn't pay full price for it (they charge $75 CDN where we went). A girl friend gave me a gift certificate for a very posh spa for Christmas so we made a girls' date to go and get our feet done.
I think my esthetician must have been having a bad night because she refused to do everything I particularly asked her to do: she said my toenails were short enough and she didn't want to cut them, or cut them the way I asked her to. I hate having any kind of length on my toenails, I always cut them very short and cut them following the curve of the nail because my toenails are a bit soft and if they're cut straight across, the nail edge often tears as it grows out and then I get ingrown toenails. She simply said she wasn't cutting them and I felt bad making a fuss in front of my friend and everyone else. So she filed them only, and of course left them too long, and it's four days later, several of the edges have got caught on my socks and the nails have torn.
And when I asked her to please apply the polish right back to the cuticle rather than leave a bit of a rim because my toenails grow very fast and in a week it looks like they need another polish job, she said they never go right back to the cuticle because it looks messy if some of the polish gets on the skin. So I said, I don't mind, it rubs off the skin in the shower the next day or you could just swipe it off with a bit of acetone, and she said, I won't, we're told not to here.
So I paid about $30 over my gift certificate, which, fine, is cheap for a spa pedicure but although my toes looked great when she was done with them (on Monday night), they look like crap now, plus some of my toenails tore as I said, which really hurts, and now they're going to grow in at the edges, and I could have done a better job myself!!
I want to ring the spa manager and complain, should I???
