<wails> I had the most disappointing pedicure last week!!!

Still glad I didn't pay full price for it (they charge $75 CDN where we went). A girl friend gave me a gift certificate for a very posh spa for Christmas so we made a girls' date to go and get our feet done.

I think my esthetician must have been having a bad night because she refused to do everything I particularly asked her to do: she said my toenails were short enough and she didn't want to cut them, or cut them the way I asked her to. I hate having any kind of length on my toenails, I always cut them very short and cut them following the curve of the nail because my toenails are a bit soft and if they're cut straight across, the nail edge often tears as it grows out and then I get ingrown toenails. She simply said she wasn't cutting them and I felt bad making a fuss in front of my friend and everyone else. So she filed them only, and of course left them too long, and it's four days later, several of the edges have got caught on my socks and the nails have torn.
And when I asked her to please apply the polish right back to the cuticle rather than leave a bit of a rim because my toenails grow very fast and in a week it looks like they need another polish job, she said they never go right back to the cuticle because it looks messy if some of the polish gets on the skin. So I said, I don't mind, it rubs off the skin in the shower the next day or you could just swipe it off with a bit of acetone, and she said, I won't, we're told not to here.

So I paid about $30 over my gift certificate, which, fine, is cheap for a spa pedicure but although my toes looked great when she was done with them (on Monday night), they look like crap now, plus some of my toenails tore as I said, which really hurts, and now they're going to grow in at the edges, and I could have done a better job myself!!

I want to ring the spa manager and complain, should I???

I thought about complaining right then but didn't want to appear an ungrateful cow before my friend who gave me such a lovely treat... but am so disappointed... I think I will.

Well that fell rather flat, the manager wasn't available and the twunt I spoke with said she didn't see what was so wrong with the esthetician carrying out their policies.

Fine, I grant the point but then I'd rather save the money and carry out my own toenail policies!!

Will try again tomorrow, this woman was a cow-bag!! I certainly won't go back there.

Am I just being petty?

jacksmama......where do you live just out of interest?

oh, and yes, lady is being a cowbag......I wouldn;t go back!

Jacksmama · 17/01/2009 01:15

I live near Vancouver, British Columbia, on the west coast of Canada.
(I tried to post a pic of the masses of snow we had over Christmas but somehow the upload failed, so only pics of Jackbaby and me...)

you had snow????

I have just looked at your profile.....your DS is utterly scrummy, and I LOVE that 'bum up' pic at the bottom

Jacksmama · 17/01/2009 17:20

Yes, we had snow. Don't start with that again. We had piles and piles and PILES of snow. And then we had some more. And it's still stacked up metres high all along our roads, and people are inconsiderate fuckwits lazy and don't clear their sidewalks, and so taking Jackbaby out in his stroller is a nightmare... would you like our left-over snow? And I mean, all of it??? Please, help yourself!!
(We're more used to snow on the ski mountains in the area than on our actual streets, you see.)

I can beat yours with pain.

The one and only pedicure I had made my toes bleed.

I couldn't even complain satisfactorily as I was in Bangkok and my Thai was limited to saying in an increasingly high-pitched voice "Thant hurts! That hurts!".

psychomum5 · 17/01/2009 17:39

oh yes please for the snow.......we never get snow anymore.

Sidge · 17/01/2009 18:16

Sorry you had a bad experience but I am PMSL at esthetician

Jacksmama · 17/01/2009 18:31

Did I spell it wrong sidge? That's what they call them here!

stroppyknickers · 17/01/2009 18:34

my worst one was where i said, @not being funny but you do sterilise everything?' and she said, 'what do you mean, sterilise?'

sophy · 17/01/2009 18:59

I can't remember where I read it but...

no-one ever got laid because of a pedicure.

So true....

Jacksmama · 17/01/2009 20:07

They didn't????????

Well, that was a waste of money and time then...

... now I'm really going to complain!!!

OP posts:
psychomum5 · 17/01/2009 20:23

you set me a dare yesterday.....

and I took you up on it....

only one person has 'got me'......

did you???

Jacksmama · 17/01/2009 20:27

Oh you little flouncing puppy!!!
!!!!!!!!!!!

OP posts:
psychomum5 · 17/01/2009 20:30

well, yes, but t'was not the flouncing thread that I trolled on.

I name changed and everything.

Jacksmama · 17/01/2009 20:32

Oh crap. Hmmm. No, haven't found it yet then - can't look now because DH is picking me up from work and we are going shopping. Nothing exciting, sadly, only groceries... will check later.
Mwah!!!

(And BTW after I looked on your profile I have no clue why your DD's dancing teacher would make that "ugly parents" comment, but she's a sodding twatbag, as far as I'm concerned.)

OP posts:
psychomum5 · 17/01/2009 20:39

aww fanks on the 'comment'

@ not working me out.....see......am not that obvious after all

Sidge · 17/01/2009 20:54

Jacksmama I'm sure you have spelled it right, sorry to make fun but it just tickled me

Here in the UK you see a beautician or beauty therapist, so being called an esthetician makes me snort. Is it because they work to make you (a)esthetically more pleasing?

Jacksmama · 18/01/2009 00:45

I do think that's why they're called that!! LOL.
