My feet have been really cold for two weeks. I am thinking of splashing out on a pair of celtic sheepskin boots as saw them mentioned on a previous thread.
I have a high arch and walk my dog a lot but would wear wellies in the wet
Advice very welcome as I have never paid that amount on shoes or boots before

No idea. I like them a lot. But I've been told that they are slippery.

Ruby2shoes · 15/01/2009 20:13

They are really warm and snug. I bought 2 pairs of the adult bootee style for Christmas presents for my DM and her DH.

They feel tight to begin with but only until the wool moulds to the shape of your feet.

They come with a fit guide and care instructions.

We have 'is and 'ers, but only for inside. They'd almost be too hot for energetic walking, I'd say. Better just to get an indoor pair and wear thermal socks in your wellies.

VersdeSociete · 15/01/2009 20:15

My feet have never been happier than they have since I got sheepskin boots. so warm...

ohappydays · 15/01/2009 20:16

I got sheepskin slippers for Christmas this yera from Celtic and they are loooovely. My feet are lovely and warm (and I ahve terrible circulation).

I bought a pair of the long classic style in dark brown (mocha?) 2 weeks ago. They are bloody fantastic! Worn without socks my feet have never been toastier and they are supremely comfortable. I also walk a very active labrador and dd in her pushchair a lot - no problem even in this weather. They get muddy on the sole but this just brushes off (like a welly sole). Go ahead! I also wondered for ages but have not regretted it. Very versatile style and have been assured by lots of people that will last 2-3 yrs at least. Celtic Sheepskin will repair boots if they wear through apparently for a fraction of the price of new pair. I also bought some bootie style slippers in grey which are similarly great. Now want MORE boots in other colours!

Thanks everyone for the posts
Eeky did you buy the classic sheepskin [ not the short one] or celt knee?
What are the sizing like.
I measure for the 5 but hate my feet hurting so usually but 6 but have been told they will stretch to much if I do that
I too have a boisterous lab who loves to jump in any water.

I have the popper boots. I've worn them lots in this very cold dry weather we've had since xmas and myfeet have been so warm.

I also have a pair of their scuffs. Fabulous . And DD has slippers.

DH received their sheepskin lined wellies for xmas. They haven't had a good workout yet as DD's riding club doesn't start again until this weekend but he's hoping he won't have stone cold feet like he did last year, hanging around the stables for an hour.

RumMum · 15/01/2009 21:07

how do they fare with the wet and mud? does it really just brush off... does it go soggy when wet
I've just invested in these... I walk the dog several times a day as well and these are so warm... read the reviews...
cotton trader boots

ohappydays · 15/01/2009 21:14

Are those Celtic Sheepskin lot ever going to have a sale I wonder?

SueW · 15/01/2009 22:47

I don't think they do sales.

Occasionally I've seen them do free p&p and before xmas they were offer some handcream/body butter or something like that

(quite glad they don't do sales given how much I've spent with them recently altho I'd rather like it if they would half price their coats!)

RumMum · 16/01/2009 12:46

they are unisex.. so they came up big... I got a size smaller, I'm usually a 6 but got a 5 and they fit perfectly.....

girlwithacurl · 16/01/2009 14:02

I have a pair of these and they are fab! I would go for the smaller size though as they do mould to your feel. very snug...

eeky · 16/01/2009 15:28

ohappydays, I got a bit confused! Checking on website I bought the celt sheepskin boots in calf length - lots of colours in these. I am a size 6 normally and ordered same - they are perfect with bare feet or thin socks. Not sure if they will sretch much more but if so would be ok with thicker socks. Now slightly obsessed and want to buy most of catalogue. In fact, may be more economical to start keeping a flock of sheep to supply family...
