Monsoon is turning into an utter, utter tat-fest.

The sale (never particularly well organised imo) is dreadful this time isn't it?

There's even bad summer stock in there from yonks ago. I am talking not just ugly was /never going to sell, but ripped, stained, belt missing etc.

There's a fine line between a last-season bargain and tat which needs to be written off and they haven't found it.

I feel really put off - it seems to have tarnished my enjoyment even of the better stuff, as they treat their stock like garbage.

I hate going into Monsoon at sale time. The way they keep trying to flog stuff from years ago is outrageous. And you're right it does make you feel bad about the brand - you'd think they'd realise that.

SheherazadetheGoat · 14/01/2009 15:53

i have thought this, it appears to be going down teh m&S jumble sale route.

MrsSeanBean · 14/01/2009 15:57

The problem is, I never want to go into the shop out of sale times now either; I look at the £69 skirt and resent buying it when it will be straight to 70% off at the earliest oppo. Why not reduce the prices to start with and keep the shop tidy eh?

Before Christmas they did 30% off everything. I thought that made their prices about right. Agree about their sales, stuff you havent seen in the shop for years....

TheRealMrsJohnSimm · 14/01/2009 16:02

I think Monsoon is very over-priced and the quality is crap. I have stuff that I bought from there a few years ago which is still going strong but most of what's in the store looks like it will fall apart after 1 wash.

lizandlulu · 15/01/2009 09:17

why dont they just stick everything into the monsoon outlet stores? surely this is the best place for all the stuff from years ago?

i must admit, i have never noticed anything in our shop as bad as thta, but i only go to the sale as soon as it starts then dont bother cause its too much like hard work to sift through stuff.

agree it should be kept in a better state

Buckets · 15/01/2009 10:51

They have lots and lots of evening dresses that look distincly home-made from the early 70s.

Bucharest · 15/01/2009 10:54

Agreed, a few years ago their stuff was lovely and dd was head to foot Monsoon (all 70% off mind) and now it's all shiny taffetabouffanty repulsiveness. Haven't bought anything except ridiculously overpriced hairslides for ages.

PortAndLemon · 15/01/2009 10:56

Ours seems fine in the sales. But I have noticed that different Monsoon branches seem to have very different characters in terms of stock and general look and feel.
