what do you think of this dress to wear to a wedding

What do you think of this as a dress to wear to a wedding. I have read on another thread about not wearing cream or white to weddings and I do agree usually but you probably know what it's like, you like a dress and you are desperately trying to justify it... I have a jacquard pewter/green coat with a side neck tie and think it would look great with that?

that's not white or cream.

I think it's lovely

GypsyMoth · 12/01/2009 21:17

its gorgeous....get it!!!

I love it. Yes, wear it - no need to justify, it is nothing like a wedding dress.

Jewelsandgems · 12/01/2009 21:19

It is nice but I do think it is a bit 'bridey'.

There seems to be lots of lovely evening dresses around right now, I love the prom style ones - what are your requirements? [so we can suggest some alternatives]

gemmiegoatlegs · 12/01/2009 21:19

ooh yes! i didn't think I would like it from the description but its lovely!

whitenoise · 12/01/2009 21:20

oooh i like(not that i am stylish though!)

newgirl · 12/01/2009 21:21

i think its lovely and if you can add a bit or colour with a wrap/hair band/bag/beads etc if you want to

hellabell · 12/01/2009 21:24

Think it's lovely, maybe just make sure you're not taking white clutch bag or shoes. I would have been in no way miffed if someone had worn this to my wedding (would have been quietly impressed by stylish friend!)

lovelysongbirdie · 12/01/2009 21:26

i agree with jewels

I think its great too but agree with hellabell - wear some fab non-white accessories with it . My friend wore a similar dress last year with hot pink accessories a la Sarah Jessica Parker - looked fab

Thanks for your comments, any jewellery suggestions or alternatives welcome, budget is £150 for my whole outfit, I'm looking for something with a bit of front pleating and straps that are not spaghetti thin and a dress that doesn't show too much cleavage.

coast pleat dress

purple long dress from coast

stylish coast dress

Anything like like?

quickdrawmcgraw · 13/01/2009 10:32

I love it and think you would be fine wearing it to a wedding but this one is also lovely

samsonara · 13/01/2009 10:44

Wow thanks Jewelsandgems, all fabulous dresses. I love the first Oasis one but fear it is too short for me, the second one is my kind of dress and I love it sweetheart necklines really suit me, I may consider that dress anyway though not sure about black for wedding, I don't think it matters personally but dh is quite old fashioned (hence cover up cleavage and knees a bit requirements). The Oasis dress lovely pleating but black again, The Coast dress is yummy, aahh not in size 14 online ,may need to get to a store to check it out.
Quickdrawncgraw, yes that is beautiful, love the detailing, it's the price with that one as I would need a shrug or something a sit's strapless, but thank you both.
