The stop wearing jeans challenge!

Hello - I was up until recently working full time. Now am a SAHM - at least til I get my business up and running . I have been at home for few months now and found all I was wearing were jeans - I was inspired by another thread on here by a SAHM wanting to "glam" up a bit, now I'm on the no jeans challenge - apart from dog walking!

Today went shopping for new look - got 2 woolen dresses at H&M - one black and one grey. (Register at their website to get a 20% off voucher). Also got a lovely grey smarter day dress and a patterned neutral/grey dress plus nice wooly tights. Then got nice V-necks with pretty silky bits on from Per Una. Couple of short skirts from River Island, couple of tops from Gap and allowed myself one pair of nice combats from Next. I kept veering to jeans but told myself off!! Also got lovely angora mix long black cardi and black and grey thick stripe mini dress from Top Shop.

All sounds very black and grey but am accessorising with either jade or red and silver chunky jewellery

Going to wear the above with ugg type boots - comfy and warm

Looking forward to getting dressed tomorrow!

Any other ideas for non-jeans day wear.

I am petite...or a shorty if you like....so need to keep skirts and dresses short or look like i am drowning!! hehhee

Great idea, but I just bought some new jeans (for dog walking!)and promptly got asked by 2(!) people if I've lost weight!
I haven't been wearing jeans for ages for the same sort of thing as you're saying. I thought I was looking pretty fine in the gorgeous clothes I was wearing and do definately feel more 'sassy' when not in jeans, but I think that with compliments like that I'm going to have to wear them occasionally again!
Your new clothes sound great. I love wearing a short(ish) denim skirt, black polo, bright thick tights and knee boots or uggs.

Like the sound of your dresses!
I try to vary the jeans thing too, skinny pair with boots and dress/tunic over one day,leggings/boots/dress another, wde trousers another etc.
I wear alot of grey too, particularly this year.add purple tights/necklace and cami etc.
I now feel dull in just jeans and tee shirt combo. If I do wear them,I always add neckace, bangle etc. to jazz up!

agree with st, i wear jeans a lot, but vary what i put with them

skinny jeans tucked into knee high heeled boot, sometimes flat ones, lightly flared with high ankle boots underneath etc

fitted shirts look good with jeans i think

Yep I love jeans, have about 12 pairs at the moment, just sick of them after wearing them for months! It was a novelty to start with to stop wearing smart office gear - don't miss that at all but want to look bit nicer. I am going to try and get some pretty coloured camisoles to wear under cardis/v-necks - any ideas for some bright ones?

i wear a lot of dresses too, more than skirts atm

aandme · 12/01/2009 20:14

I hardly ever wear dresses - most look horrible on me or can't fit my big norks in them! Woollen dresses are stretchieeeeeeeee so happy with that. I have never worn dress without heels before so that will be brave of me. Just need to change - next is change hairstyle....

Dare I say Primark for bright camis
Also Topshop,Tesco,New Look and a bit more expensive,Boden.Oh,and Marks of course.
I have a green Primark one that I wear under grey sweater dress to brighten it a bit,and a purple Marks one also.
Just remembered White Stuff do them as well.

i have ordered from here a few times

JeanieG · 13/01/2009 10:14

I am also desperately needing to leave the jeans alone for a while and I found this place that looks quite good. www.promod.com

lou33 · 13/01/2009 13:27

am in black skinny jeans today tucked into knee high stiletto boots and a purple pin striped fitted shirt

themoon66 · 13/01/2009 13:32

Primark cami tops are only £1 each. I got one in every colour.

aandme · 14/01/2009 12:59

I must locate a Primark!! I am in jeans today but they are skinny jeans tucked into black uggs with a nice grey v-neck from per una (with satin trim) and a black pretty vest top underneath. Not too bad!

i am in jeans and a t shirt, but i have been cleaning , so am excused

lizandlulu · 15/01/2009 09:22

monsoon do nice colourful camis with pretty lacy detail, but are about £14 each.

aandme · 15/01/2009 12:53

Well I managed to wear a dress again today - have to take one of the dresses back though as makes my hips look too wide
I'll have a look at Monsoon now - prefer £1 ones though!!!

I live in jeans but try to mix it up a bit, I am on a misson for a nice dress at the moment.

New Look do camis for £3, they are long in the body as well, I have big boobs and even though I am short I find my boobs make camis very short!
