I posted here about JM a couple of weeks back asking for suggestions- since then I have been testing the testers- and do you know, there was not one that I really liked?
HATED Pom. Noir, didn't like LBM,and came away with none.

Has anyone any other recommendations for her range - didn't get round to sniffing the spicy ones.

curlygal · 12/01/2009 19:48

I've got a huge bottle of the grapefruit and unfortunately I think it is rank.

I LOVE the bodyshop grapefruit range and foolishly thought that the JM one would be similar. NO no no it is like toilet cleaner. Not nice. Am gutted

YouLukaBeautiful · 12/01/2009 19:50

I too hate the grapefruit. Fortunately its only shower gel I have in it and dh likes it. Still love the classic lime basil mandarin. Interested in the cedar/lime.

TheRealMrsJohnSimm · 12/01/2009 20:32

DH bought me lime basil mandarin a few years ago. I thought I would love it as I am an aromatherapist and those are some of my favourite "summer" oils. I thought it was vile. I trawled through the JM collection in Selfridges a year ago and couldn't find a single scent I liked. Nor do I think they smell anything like the essential oils they are supposed to be made of, imo.

honestfriend · 12/01/2009 20:33

TRMJS- thank good ness I am not the only one!

TheRealMrsJohnSimm · 12/01/2009 20:53

Honest - try this company. Their perfumes and candles are amazing. Haven't tried their bath stuff but I am sure it must be the same quality.

I would also recommend anything by this works. Their bath and shower stuff is so packed with essential oils that you barely need perfume after you've used it . Same with [[http://www.aromatherapyassociates.com/ aromatherapy associates.

Happy shopping

TheRealMrsJohnSimm · 12/01/2009 20:54

sorry, that last link should be aromatherapy associates

Shhhh · 12/01/2009 21:56

Yes, it is nice. I also love woody scents. Just bought dh for christmas
lavender & amber shower gel and bath oil. Dh is v impressed .

We hav a few of the candles..parmaviolets and also fig (and something..) love jm scents.

MaryAnnSingleton · 12/01/2009 22:41

nutmeg and ginger is really nice but I think my favourite is the black cafe vetyvr ( or the other way around)
I do like LBM but a friend was wearing it and I found it a bit overpowering on her - I like it as a bath oil or lotion

Lauriefairycake · 12/01/2009 22:45

154 is the loveliest scent by her imo

zenandtheartofbaking · 12/01/2009 23:47

Honest friend - maybe you don't like JM perfumes?

They have a certain style and maybe it's just not your style.

I like quite a few in the range but one of the things I really like about them is that they're not overpowering and are easy to wear in the day-time.

That may not be everybody's cup of tea and how dull the world would be if it were.

Luca Turin and his missis in "Perfume" scornfully dub JM perfumes as "Miss Malone's Finishing School for Polite English Ladies". But ... I rather like that and will therefore happily persist in my wearing thereof.

I've posted this blog on another thread but I'm mentioning it for you too:

Try googling "nowsmellthis" and the name of your favourite perfume and see what comes up. If you're lucky, there will be a review, along with lots of suggestions of other perfumes you might like.

zenandtheartofbaking · 12/01/2009 23:48

Oh, and I haven't tried lime/cedar yet.

How did you find 'Perfume' zen?
Was it given to you as a gift?
I've dropped many hints to many people about it but it looks like I may have to buy it for myself. Lol.
It just feels like it's definately one to be given not to buy

honestfriend · 13/01/2009 09:23

zena thanks that is very useful.

VintageGardenia · 13/01/2009 09:27

Well as you can tell from my name I do like JM. However I did find the jasmine / mint one much too minty and strong, I couldn't find any jasmine in it at all and even though I have a big bottle of it and hate wasting I don't wear it. I do like lime basil mandarin, and F. lime blossom. There was a fig one I think, which I tried in the shop and it was yum.

Sorry that doesn't answer the OP at all!!
