Ladies, I don't venture in to this topic much and for those of you who have met me, you'll understand why.

The thread question is to help on this thread.

Gimme some back up - I'm out of my depth with the fashion stuff!

I would say black tights and black shoes. Red will be overkill imo.

WilfSell · 06/01/2009 21:19

Black tights and shoes: good, but the standard option.

Red tights and red shoes: the more fashionable option.

Black tights and red shoes: the very edgy option that will ONLY work if the dress is VERY fashionable and wearer is under 25

Definitely NOT red tights and black shoes. This is the middle-aged woman option

mazzystartled · 06/01/2009 21:19

black opaques and black suede or patent heels [make 'em chunky] will keep it modern
no to the gilet
maybe a chunky black bangle too

harpomarx · 06/01/2009 21:20

would also say black to be safe... though I bet it's possible to do red shoes and red tights, or black tights and red or green shoes... the possibilities are endless!

sorry, got a bit diverted there. If your style is fairly safe (no offense meant) then I'd stick with the conservative option, otherwise you run the risk of looking a bit twee and matchy-matchy, as I believe they say in the fashion world.

harpomarx · 06/01/2009 21:21

ah ha, Wilf agrees with the daring red on red combo....

was expecting cries of 'NOooooo' to that one

AnyFuckerForAMincePie · 06/01/2009 21:22

wilf, that was a very considered answer !!

4 options for the price of one question !!

lovelysongbirdie · 06/01/2009 21:22

is there a link to the dress i would say black tight and red shoes.
but i love red shoes

mazzystartled · 06/01/2009 21:24

i love red shoes too

i think it all depends on the style of shoe, akshully

red tights not good on the curvier amongst us

ChirpyGirl · 06/01/2009 21:44

Oh thanks ladies, looks like night is off anyway but this is my only dress so worth asking.
This is dress.

Shoes are burgundy sort of court shoes with a wedge (sound really grim, dont they!)

ChirpyGirl · 06/01/2009 21:45

Oh, and I dont think I could pull off red tights!

mazzystartled · 06/01/2009 21:46

nice dress. i think unless shoes are perfect match - and quite bright, i would stick to black. burgundy and black together not so good

why's it off? boo

lovelysongbirdie · 06/01/2009 21:50

i wouldn't go for burgundy shoes.

either red or black.

black tights and blacks shoes will be the safest bet, but if you go for red shoes you need it to be the same red as the red flowers imo.
nice dress btw

Dh has to work the next day, which would mean me leaving at 6am, having only got there about 7ish, driving myself, and I do not do well driving when tired.
am pissed off. DH does the rota so the fact he is working on the saturday means he has to, as in no-one else can.
This is why people should live near their families and not 250 miles away.....

oh, and thanks! I hav some knee high black boots with kitten heels (only heels I can manage at the mo) which need reheeling, or some ankle boots, or some muley type heels, which would be best?

mazzystartled · 06/01/2009 22:05

the boots, definitely the boots
