Let's just be direct that 's easier...If you had a very very hairy fango in desperate need of help..would you to the beautician ? I'm fed up of shaving, it's gross when it grows back BUT I'm scared of them laughing at me..Would they dare ? What would you do ?

TheMoistWorldOfSeptimusQuench - if you're having hot wax, around 40 mins, otherwise 25 mins (for a warm/ strip wax) for a brazilian.

TheMoistWorldOfSeptimusQuench · 06/01/2009 22:54

Sorry Plum, I meant roughly how long before you need another one?

p1umpudding · 06/01/2009 22:57

I would say that you start to get regrowth at around 3 weeks and would need to be waxed again at around 6-7 weeks. The hair length should be around 5mm long so the wax gets a good grip on it.

BlackEyedDogstar · 06/01/2009 22:58

it takes 25 mins for a full David Bellamy wax iirc, Septimus.

TheMoistWorldOfSeptimusQuench · 06/01/2009 23:00

PMSL at David Bellamy.

Thanks guys

BlueSapphire77 · 06/01/2009 23:01

Its a cream like immac but not so stingy or SMELLY

Negative is that it doesn't last as long as a wax would

harpomarx · 06/01/2009 23:03

where do you get hot wax done plum? I used to have this when I was abroad but have only ever seen strip wax used here (which I agree isn't as good). In my experience, it's much quicker than strip though.

andaSOLOnewyear · 06/01/2009 23:04

But if you have strong and thick hair, it sometimes breaks off rather than be pulled out and(for me)it bruises and grows out within a couple of days. I only had it done once some years ago but went back to ask and that's what she told me.

Ambi · 06/01/2009 23:05

My recommendation would be a bikini trimmer, no1 all over, takes about a minute. Can't do links, but I got one from amazon for £4.99, tis very good. It doesn't do completely bald like wax, but it doesn't hurt or get painful regrowth.

harpomarx · 06/01/2009 23:07

what, a fanny crewcut, Ambi???

ooh, no ta!

trulyscrumptious43 · 06/01/2009 23:07

This is all most interesting. Am I right to think that a Brazilian requires two beauticians, to help hold the folds etc stretched out? (delightful). I think I might need more than two actually.

bronze · 06/01/2009 23:08

use tweezers

Ambi · 06/01/2009 23:14

Lol harpo,

p1umpudding · 06/01/2009 23:16

harpomarx - i go to a place in notting hill, which is a trek from north london, but worth it www.2strip.com (the website doesn't appear to be working at the mo)

andaSOLOnewyear - if you're brusing, it's because the skin hasn't been pulled tight enough. the hair can break, but I would probably put this down to the quality of the wax. Yes, in the beginning, I got regrowth after a few days but after about six months or so, I got regrowth at around three weeks.

Lycon wax is by far and away the best hot wax on the market. An oil is placed on the skin, so when the wax is removed it pulls only the hair - it's genius!

expatinscotland · 06/01/2009 23:18

a Brazilian can be done by a single technician.

it is NOT a Hollywood, that is everything off. no hair.

they are professionals. they will not laugh at you.

it isn't very sore if you have a tech like plum who knows what she is doing.

once you go for it, you'll NEVER go back!

i know i wouldn't.

i go knickerless for mine and always have.

but i'm not the bashful type.

p1umpudding · 06/01/2009 23:21

trulyscrumptious43 you don't need two therapists as you assist the therapist yourself.

Imagine you're having a smear and your legs are apart. Now, let's take the right side and do the inside of the outer labia. Place one hand at the top (near clitoris) and one hand at the bottom (near anus) of the labia. The therapist will place the hot wax inbetween and once dried, you gently strech the labia (to avoid brusing)and the therapist will rip off the wax.

harpomarx · 06/01/2009 23:30

I think you have scared everyone off with that rather graphic description, plum...

p1umpudding · 06/01/2009 23:33

Hmmm.... think you're right Harpomax...

Come back ya'll - wouldn't all rather know what really goes on????

trulyscrumptious43 · 06/01/2009 23:47

Imagine I'm having a smear????
AAARRGGHHHH
Runs for the hills.....

RiaParkinson · 06/01/2009 23:54

oh my god EXPAT! I know you are brave but ...seriously?

p1umpudding · 06/01/2009 23:55

Yes, having your fanjo waxed is an intimate affair! [pings latex gloves over hands]

andaSOLOnewyear · 07/01/2009 00:14

OOOH! no!!! no, no, no!

I don't have the money to have waxing done these days, but thanks for the tip!
My beauty therapist back then told me of a horror story(for her)where a woman in for a bikini wax stripped off her knicks...bt had to tell her nicely to put them back on. I don't think I want to be a bt...

andaSOLOnewyear · 07/01/2009 00:15

For me these days, clippers and tweezers are much better.

VinoEsmeralda · 07/01/2009 08:44

thanks to Expats advice I was brave enough to go and have a Brazillian and it wasnt painful and the beautician was indeed concentrating on the hairs only, not staring at fanjo IYSWIM (DH did that when I came back though

bigbadjaneyes · 07/01/2009 08:57
