I'm the wrong shape [she wails]

been trying to find a dress - I want a dress for the summer. But the waist is always at least 3 in too high. Why am I the wrong shape? Am I doomed always to wear separates? Not fair.

What am I doing wrong?!

No you need pencil, tulip shaped dresses. Forget 50's style or floaty tea dresses they don't work trust me!

BlueCowBackToWondering · 05/01/2009 22:03

but I want 'pretty' ledodgy, I want to be a 50's starlet .

But can see that tulip would work well on me. Where from????

BlueCow, you must be working your ass off replying to all the responses on your three identical threads! Hey, maybe working your ass off would change your shape as desired?

BlueCowBackToWondering · 05/01/2009 22:08

already apologised (but not multiplied...)

But ass not the prob! Not big, not protruding.... Just waist moved with regard to (apparently) the rest of the population.

Wish I knew how to amalgamate (to be added to my multitasking, with doing everything whilst sleeping toddler slumped on me)

Sorry for multi-posting

Think Dita von tees Blue that's pretty and sexy. I dunno check on ebay I have a couple of nice pencil dresses one from Next which to be fair I had to get a bigger size to fit me on the norks and got sil to take it in everywhere else, I think Oasis, Miss selfridge and warehouse had them in last time I looked. You will look super sexy and very pretty I swear! I always yearned for pretty floral numbers and have ealised this year they just don't suit me.

Sorry - I didn't mean to sound like I was annoyed about the multi-thread thing! I just found it rather funny...(nor was I suggesting that you have a big ass. I'm sure your ass is perfectly lovely. I shall go...)

TheRealMrsJohnSimm · 05/01/2009 22:12

I am long of body and I find 50's style is perfect because it hides the fact that my waist is so low whereas a pencil dress highlights that......mostly because the fitted "hip" shape on those dresses sits on my waist!

Try Zara - I've bought some lovely 50's style dresses from there in the past.

BlueCowBackToWondering · 05/01/2009 22:15

Not at all Mrs MH! All taken in the best possible taste, (and I quite like the power of taking over MN for 5 mins...)

Will go to Zara as soon as toddler starts at pre-school - and that would be tomorrow!!!!! Except got to find a Zara first. Maybe just need to take time to search and try on, and forget internet shopping.

I'm now confused as to what low waisted means and think I may be high waisted. Hipster jeans do not reach my hips and always fall down. I suit pencil dresses. Maybe i'm high waisted i'm not sure anymore!

LedodgyChristmasjumper · 05/01/2009 22:31

I've just worked it out and i'm high waisted so please ignore my advice!

MrsMerryHenry · 05/01/2009 23:55

Doesn't high-waisted just mean you have long legs?
