do all John Lewis clothes shrink?

Hello
I bought a top for ds (4 next week) from John Lewis just before Xmas in age 4-5 which looked just right for him. I then found the same top in a different colour on half price in the sale so I bought another in the same size and some more in a different style but same size. I have now washed the first one at 40C and tumble dried on low heat as per washing instructions and it has shrunk about 2cm all round and would now fit a 2-3 year old .
The same thing happened with some JL tops I was given for dd from the baby section last autumn. Does this happen with all JL clothes and should I take the other tops back? I still have the tags on them so it shouldn't be a problem but it's a shame as I really liked them and they've probably sold out of the bigger sizes by now.

most things shrink when you tumble dry them, even if it says you can on the label.

Whoops, that smiley was meant to be a sad face. Haven't quite got the hang of this newfangled internet stuff...

Just in case anyone is reading this and wondering what the outcome was....I took all the tops back and they refunded me for everything including the ones which shrunk so I didn't lose out - good old JL. However the day after I returned them I washed dd's beautiful new embroidered JL corduroy pinafore on the wool cycle at 30C - the most gentle wash I could find and then hung it up to dry, and guess what? It has shrunk too about a whole size! So I won't be buying clothes from there any more.

...or buy them a size bigger!
