So I need black leather calf length boots, low wedge heel or chunky anyway or flat.
Preferably avoiding the tons of buckles around atm.

soyabean, what were the desert riders like? I can't work out Clarks width fittings and not sure a C would be wide enough for my big plates

Well I think I am going to send both pairs back
The desert riders are OK but a bit flappy around the leg (and I am not skinny legged - just quite average I would say). The foot is ok, not too narrow. But they just look v wellyish at the top, I think not nice enough for the price although the colour is lovely.
The grey ones just look silly!
Serves me right for buying shoes online; I shoould have known it wouldnt work.
