Traditional toddlers' (boys) shoes with single strap & button fastening....?

I am looking for some shoes like these but for a boy.

Any ideas on where to get them?

Or would the girls' version be OK? (Bit worried about permanent emotional damage.)

We had these for dd - I don't see how boys ones would be any different (although I wouldn't go for pink). Be warned they are a real pain to do up/undo - you need the metal implement that comes with the shoes or it kills your fingers and takes ages. They are gorgeous though.

The brown ones would be fine, surely?

MrsSeanBean · 31/12/2008 12:42

Why don't they make them for boys or market them as unisex though? I am worried I am missing a little flower motif or something, perhaps it would be better to inspect them more closely in a shop!

No motifs at all on dds ones and I assure you they are the same ones! Why not email start-rite.

MrsFogi · 31/12/2008 15:35

I take it they don't market them as unisex as they would be a bit unusual for a boy.

MrsFogi · 31/12/2008 15:35

unless the boy was a page boy at a wedding

MrsSeanBean · 31/12/2008 15:41

Thanks MrsFogi.

No wedding involved sadly. I just like the more old fashioned traditional styles!

Not sure if they are any good but DS has these

MrsSeanBean · 31/12/2008 15:47

Thanks nappy, but those are not quite what I'm after. I'm looking for something plain, the opposite of chunky, with a round toe and one single strap across the front. Thanks anyway

What size is he?

MrsSeanBean · 31/12/2008 15:52

6g

I don't know if you will still be able to get them from startrite cos they are older styles but DS had some old fashioned type ones from there. They styles were widget and lextric.

nappyaddict · 31/12/2008 15:57

if startrite don't have them anymore there might be some on ebay?

MrsSeanBean · 31/12/2008 15:59

Thanks nappy, that's great, it always helps if you have hold of a style name!

Will have a look.

I don't know if they will be what you are looking for but I chose them when DS started to walk cos I felt he was too little for the chunky trainer types that were in clarks.
