I've just run out of touch eclat. Arrrgh! Why is the guerlain one better? Do I dare risk that erase stuff or even Bobbi Brown???? Decisions, decisions. Actually I might look at QVC - you can send stuff back there after you've tried it and I think they do Benefit and Bobbi Brown. Bet I end up with another touche eclat.

lou33 · 30/12/2008 19:23

i didnt have time hoochie, the afternoon was a bit of a disaster

got into guildford with the younger 3, and met dd1 there

she started throwing up in the street all of a sudden, then ran to the loo twice when we were in the restaurant to do the same

so i sent her to sit at a friend's flat who lives in the centre of town, whilst we ate, but ds1 started complaining of toothache and ds2 of a headache

the food was rubbish too

ended up meeting dd1 by the car and coming home straight after

she says it was something she ate at lunchtime in town, and she certainly seems better, as she just packed away a huge plate of chinese takeaway

my friend said if he caught it from her he expected me to be there in a nurse outfit looking after him (typical man)

he was disappointed that he is unlikely to catch anything as she has recovered so quickly, so i wont be round

(not that i even own a nurse outfit )

the touche eclat makes the skin under my eyes all scaly

OP posts:
holidaywonk · 30/12/2008 19:54

I get that with Touche Eclat too Lou - I think there's something in it my skin doesn't like

Tried to get an Erase Paste sample today but Benefit don't do samples boo

Might see whether Bobbi Brown do!

lou33 · 30/12/2008 20:03

oh dont they?
dammit
well they can put some on me and see what i think

OP posts:
holidaywonk · 30/12/2008 20:07

The thing is, that means going out without make-up (cos there's not much worse, in make-up terms, than concealer over blusher IMO). And I can't go out without make-up unless I put a warning notice in the local paper a week beforehand.

lou33 · 30/12/2008 20:12

lol they remove it when you get there

my mate had a mac makeover, they scrubbed her clean of her makeup and reapplied it

dior's concealer is much finer and doesn't go all dry and scaly and the skin flas foundation perfect too, ysl false lashes is by far the best mascara ever

slackrunner · 30/12/2008 20:15

Another vote for Dior's concealer - their touche eclat equivalent is great. Boots No 7 version also v.g. and a fraction of the price.

holidaywonk · 30/12/2008 20:33

Is the Dior one similar to Touche Eclat in consistency? Cos TE is a bit too thin for me. My dark shadows show through it (before my skin cracks up and drops off).

That's partly why I like the Rimmel one - it's thicker than Touche Eclat. But would like something even thicker.

groan · 30/12/2008 20:39

Can't find the Guerlain product for sale online in UK but I did buy it here in a department store. I find the touche eclat too drying and it is too dark for me. The Guerlain stuff is more light reflective so my under eye cirles get banished. Also great for covering minor blemishes.

slackrunner · 30/12/2008 20:42

holidaywonk - in that case I'd recommend the No7 one (which is my fave tbh) - nice creamy consistency that gives good matt coverage.

Dropdeadfred · 30/12/2008 20:42

i have just ordered the benefit erase paste from qvc...will let you know how it goes..

holidaywonk · 30/12/2008 20:48

Thank you slack. I think I'll have to ditch the kids and spend an afternoon having a good rummage at the make-up counters.

lou33 · 30/12/2008 20:56

am going back into guildford tomorrow, meet friend for lunch and drag him to the benefit counter

oh the ongoing saga of under eye concealer!!

have tried ysl-good if I apply moisturiser as well

boing-too cakey wrong colour

bobbi brown-nice and moist but very thick actually still have some so may give it another go as can't remember why I went off it.

No 7 -good but not brilliant enough

I had a look at the benefit past-it looked very similar to the bobbi brown stuff which comes in more shades.

I am keen now to try the geurlain one and the dior one.

LaDiDaDi · 31/12/2008 00:30

I love Boing, it really stays put imo and the colour is right for me. It hides spots really well.

Not tried erase paste but may give it a go for under eyes, currently using a Collection 2000 liquid thing under eyes and it's very good for the money.

I don't like Touche Eclat, scaly skin here too.

lou33 · 31/12/2008 01:01

i just remembered there is a second benefit stand in another store in guildford, and i have a 5 pound gift voucher left fro it, s maybe they will let me use it against the make up?

my mate is going to be so bored doing this

so bored i am not going to tell him what we have to go out for until we are right at the stand, else he will get revenge by talking about cooling systems in old mercs , or something

Loving the ongoing saga! Go to Boots for Benefit stuff as you get points on your card. In order to be mistaken for someone 8 years younger (see earlier post ) you will need: a huge overdraft facility; rush hour for cheeks and lips, tinted moisturiser in fair, tesco longer lashes, clinique invisible powder; erase paste and high beam. Phew. Now you can see why I am never available for early morning appointments
