My face wakes up 2 hours later than me

Actually, make that 3 hours some mornings (just looked in the mirror). Tis a bugger when I've got a meeting first thing and want to look all fresh faced and professional - not like I dragged myself out of bed 10 minutes ago.

Recommend me some unguent that'll make look like a 25 year old at 9am please.

My aunt used to be a picture editor for women's mags and told me that they never arranged a photoshoot for women "of a certain age" before 11am. I didn't think I'd reached that age yet but obviously I have [old gimmer].

pmsl at title....

A lot of people swear by Clairns Beauty Flash Balm...

Pinkjennybellrock · 23/12/2008 10:38

Funnily enough, I pondered this last Friday. I had a hair appointment at 9am, and I sat there staring at myself in the mirror thinking, 'Who is that woman?' By the time my hair was finished a couple of hours later, I looked perfectly normal.

I've tried Beauty Flash Balm, but not for a while, will try again.

themulledmanneredjanitor · 23/12/2008 10:38

that brings me out in a rash

how about a face cloth soaked in very hot water and held against your face and then tons of moisturiser?

SJLTM · 23/12/2008 10:39

Avon now sell and instant face lift, it does seem to give you that lifted feeling !

VinegarTitsTheSeasonToBeJolly · 23/12/2008 10:42

A good swill with ice cold water always wakes my face up before its ready too, otherwise it would stay in bed all day

You have to shock it into waking up when you get to my age

LiffeyanFiaRua · 23/12/2008 10:45

Yeah I have this strange problem. I look about fifty before 11am. And then I start to look ok. I try to 'train' myself to sleep on my back but my sleeping self will not co-operate.

One of those gel goggles for a hangover kept in the fridge, pressed on your eyes for a few minutes does speed the process up though.

LiffeyanFiaRua · 23/12/2008 10:46

Sorry not to imply that it's not ok to look fifty, I'll be happy to look fifty when I am fifty.

VinegarTitsTheSeasonToBeJolly · 23/12/2008 10:49

If you dont have a gel eye thingy, a good tip is to keep 2 spoons in the fridge overnight and just pess the back of the spoons on your eyes when you get up

I've tried cold water before (generally when in v hungover state) and it mainly makes me very red but I'll give it another go.

Hot facecloth sounds a little more appealing so I'll try that as well (maybe not at the same time).

The puffy eyes are the main problem. I used to have Clinique All About Eyes but it didn't do much. I wonder if the Body Shop still do the elderflower eye stuff? IIRC it was quite good, but then I was about 20 and not in need of such intensive help.

I've never used any Clarins stuff so I'll have a look at that & the Boots one.

Thanks all. I look alright now (at 11 bloody 45 )

Face Lift from Barbara Daly at tesco. Fab stuff.

ABloke · 23/12/2008 12:20

I always allow time for my face to "settle" before work. 1.5 hours usually does the trick.

LiffeyanFiaRua · 23/12/2008 18:39

or, I know. Just DON'T look in mirror til after you've done your make up.
