Find me something that will cheer me up

Having a shit time - details don't matter here - but it's making me feel exhausted, overweight (which I am) sad and lacklustre.

Can you find me something not too expensive to wear that will put a spring back in my step?

I fancy a Bravissimo dress but I can't afford one.

I am 5' 6", size 14-16, 36F bust with red hair and pale skin. I look good in blues, browns and greens. I used to be a pear, but now I have a tummy and in-proportion boobs, whatever that is.

Your challenge is on!

go to boots, get some urban decay slate green liquid eyeliner to make you look all wow for sort of cheap!

domesticslattern · 19/12/2008 20:55

You are so lucky to have red hair- I'm jealous! Play that up. Sounds silly but go to Claires Accessories and buy a sparkly diamante hairslide. And on the way back go to your local dept store and get them to sell you a red lipstick of the kind you would never normally dare wear.

Do you own a pair of sexy boots? M&S do some stretchy ones at the moment, very nice.

Bravissimo sale just round the corner, no?

LaTurkey · 19/12/2008 20:55

Can a 35 year old wear that? I'm feeling a bit dowdy..

I meant the eyeliner - hadn't seen your post domestic.

TO buy a hairslide I would need to get my hair cut. It's ben a year .

Now you're going to tell me to get my hair cut. I wear it in a pony all the time though because DD pulls it like crazy.

God I wound like a miserable cow.

laturkey, i'm 5'1, size 18 16 14 -ish... 40f boobs and 31, i don't wear much make-up so find one striking bit with hardly and on otherwise will look v nice and not trying to look like a teenager!! if youy waNT A MUM FRIENDLY HAIRCUT WHEN ABOUT A LAYERED INVERTED BOB (LOOK AT RHIANNA'S VIDEO WITH JUSTIN TIMBERLAKE - IS It addcy=tion?) where its short at the back and long like a bob at the front, mines like that and most mornings i don't even comb it, just sort out parting with fingers and it looks fine, but you can funk it up in no time for spesh nights out...

domesticslattern · 19/12/2008 21:13

Get your hair cut you miserable cow.

LaTurkey · 19/12/2008 21:14

I've seen Rhianna's hair and I like it but my hair wouldn't do that. It's very fine and wavy.

I do sometimes like things, I promise.

it would look fine, my hairs very fine and it looks ace, if i may say so myself, just get hairdresser to razor in teh layers, soi it's nice and choppy! haircut makes all the difference to how you feel! don't bother with a nicey dressy: get sone comfy trendy jean, next are a fail safe choice with a fitted plainish jumper in a nice olive green shade to compliment your haqir and pale skin and be practical outfit. there, that fashion advice is a squillion quid please

LaTurkey · 19/12/2008 21:22

Tell me you have discovered underwired nursing bras. Changed my (34G) life!

LaTurkey · 20/12/2008 08:12

No. I'm still wearing the ones from when DD was born almost a year ago. I went to our local undie shop to be measured (I live in Aberystwyth - far from anywhere) and she said it wasn't worth it as there was still some life left in the old bras.

OP posts:
LaTurkey · 20/12/2008 09:23

Anyone know of a measuring chart that gives an accurate reading so I could do myself? I've tried ones online and they all give very different sizes!

Anyone seen a nice skirt?

Underwired nursing bras? Where from? Aren't wires a nono when bf?

domesticslattern · 21/12/2008 10:11

I am afraid that the woman in the undie shop is lying to you LaTurkey. You will completely change shape and look fantastic.

here you go

changed my life

when it comes to measuring, just try em and send em back

Nice skirt, hmmmmmm (thinks). I just bought a lovely tight dark denim skirt, to wear with funky tights and boots. It came from Jigsaw but I suspect if the baby had let me shop around I had had time to shop around then I could have got something similar somewhere cheaper. Next and Dorothy Perkins spring to mind.

LaTurkey · 21/12/2008 21:20

Oh god. I just looked at that other thread and YES monoboob IS one of the reasons I feel I look crap. I thought it was just a sypmtom of having bigger boobs. I just hadn't realised. Lordy. Must get that bra!
