Silly nail polish q

I have got on two coats of some No7 nail protection thing, clear polish stuff. I put it on on Monday, it's not chipped or anything. Can I just use that as a base coat, and whack on a coat or two of colour and a topcoat? Or do I have to do down to nothing and start over?

All these clear bottles look the same, only the labels are different, and I'm a skeptical sort of person ...

Thanks! I'm assuming that the nail polish removers, however much they're labelled as 'with conditionning extracts blah blah blah' are not great for my nails, so I shouldn't be using them more than once or twice a week?

Not going anywhere - I'm hosting DH's team party here this afternoon.

(English women don't seem to wear coloured polish for every day? I never used to wear polish at all, so hadn't noticed, but now that I do ... I was at a formalish dinner on Monday, and one woman out of maybe 10 was wearing coloured polish.)

The hardener makes my nails look nice, and it keeps me from biting them. I'm inclined to wear it all the time, and put colour on top from time to time.

Except if I'm swimming regularly, at which point I'll probably give up again.

I'll look at what sort of polish remover I have. I don't want to be doing my nails every day, anyway, but it's a nice thing to do from time to time.

I'll go dig out a colour for today - probably just sparkly, or maybe a light coat of green with sparkly on top ...

I've done a coat of purple. It's darker than I expected. I'll do glitter on top, then clear.
