I think its horrible

The dress

Am I wrong?

It's ok. Quite pretty. Put it with jeans perhaps?

Miggsie · 16/12/2008 18:25

Um well, not my taste, but if he bothered to buy something and got the right size, then take it in the spirit in which it was purchased.

Will your DD like it?

Isaidkissmeunderthemistletoe · 16/12/2008 18:26

will look sweet with leggings

random · 16/12/2008 18:26

Would look nice with jeans or leggings?

TrinityRhino · 16/12/2008 18:26

will look lovely with jeans
its definitely not horrid

OsmosisFaLaLaLaLa · 16/12/2008 18:27

I would put DD (2) in something like this happily, with leggings or similar. How old is your DD?

MissisBoot · 16/12/2008 18:28

She loves it (she is 3 though and would love anything pink and flowery)

It still has the tags on - would it be really mean of me to take it back?

She's a real skinny minny and it looks huge on her.

It's also winter - I'm not entirely sure why he's bought her a summer dress

polo neck under it with jeans will look lovely

I think you will crush him if you take it back so keep it

pagwatch · 16/12/2008 18:34

It would be mean.

And it would make people think that you are a little control freaky that your notion of what is nice means more than his satisfaction at buying it and your daughters enjoyment of it.

Which is more important. Your DD and DH being happy and feeling good. Or you being put out that it is not what you would choose?

I wonder...

NotanOtter · 16/12/2008 18:35

i would take it back - sorry

mazzystartled · 16/12/2008 18:38

i thought it was going to be black with sequins and net or something
its fine - will look cute with the right stuff - jeans or navy tights
i think its sweet that he thought to buy her something - don't take it back, let her wear it on dates with daddy vr to playgroup

mazzystartled · 16/12/2008 18:39

maybe it will fit her better in the summer?

FairyLightsForever · 16/12/2008 19:04

I'm with mazzy, put it by for the warmer weather, she'll look lovely in it.

Yunyun · 16/12/2008 19:10

I'd take it back
It may never get worn

CoolYourJets · 16/12/2008 19:11

poloneck under and skinnys. My skinny dd looks great in tunics if layered.

ggirlsbells · 16/12/2008 19:12

what pagwatch said..

don't take it back

Lemontart · 16/12/2008 19:13

My DH would be furious if he chose a gift for one of our DDs and I took it back on style basis. Fashion is subjective and your DH?s view is as valid as yours. It is decent and sounds like your DD loves it so do not see what the problem is. I bet with matching polo neck and thick woolly tights, maybe cute boots it will look lovely.
Don?t knock your DH?s confidence on this. There are many women out there who would love their DH to make the effort and have the confidence to buy children?s clothes. If you take it back, he might think twice about it a second time.
Keep it, keep quiet and let them both enjoy the giving and recieving of this gift It is only a dress!

How would you feel if your DH returned a gift that you had chosen and your DD loved?

I think it is sweet. Let her wear it with jeans and a long sleeved tshirt.

poinsettydog · 16/12/2008 19:23

I think it's lovely. You;re meant to wear it with jeans or leggings as it says on th s site. Stop moaning

blinks · 16/12/2008 19:41

think you're a style fascist

MissisBoot · 16/12/2008 19:50

OK - I'm overuled.

I completely take on board all of your points.

I do restrain myself when he gets her dressed in random outfits.

Maybe I could ask him to change it to a smaller size - It really is huge - literally down to her calves.

When he got it out of the bag I tried my best to say it looked nice and would look good with thick tights - he knows me too well though and could immediately tell I didn't like it.
