I'm going out tonight and want to look glam but I just can't do it. I usually just wear a bit of silver eyeliner but have been out and bought lots of eyeshadows and looked at lots of 'how to apply eyeshadow videos' on youtube. I practised loads last night but just looked stupid. What am I going to do?

Um, practise some more?

Silver eyeliner sounds like a good sparkly start.

A start is about as far as I can get, its the middle and finish I can't do!!

I like to leave myself not too much time to do makeup, because if I have lots of time I end up trying to put on more and more and make it more complicated, and then I just mess it up.

You definitely don't need lots of different eyeshadows, if they came in little sets of three I would pick one set so then you know the colours are supposed to go together.

I don't really know how we can be more helpful in text than a video can be... Could you try putting one cover on your eyelid up to the crease, than another on the outside of your eye, with a tiny bit underneath as well.

That's your face. Sorry, this is very silly.
So you have a thicker bit of the dark colour above your eye, and a tiny bit of it under your eye.

No, I'm really not sure this is going to work.

Hmmm, think i'll have to have a practice before I get in the shower. I've taken a photo of kate moss showing the effect I want so I'll see how I go. Thanks for the help.

Thank you, I did see her Amy Lee one last night but I totally cocked that up. Will have another look this afternoon.

I followed the Benefit lesson to the word and it turned out looking okay

Also, a good eyeshadow makes all the difference. I used to use n07 etc until I bought some Mac eyeshadows and realised what a difference it made. They blend easily, they do not crease, do not crepe etc...

Oh and aparently the eyelids are the most oily area of the face, so make sure you use a cleansing wipe before application, and also use a base (either concealer, or an eyebase)

Good luck!

Let us know how it worked out...

Thanks for the advice everyone, I managed to get a toned down smokiness. Whenever I went for the full on smoky look I ended up looking like a transvestite! I can see its something i'm going to have to work on.
