How do I use mousse?

I've bought some mousse from boots to give my hair a lift - just have no idea where to start using it! I know that's ridiculous cos I'm 26 but you know...

My hair is quite long (few inches past my shoulders).

Do I put it all over or on the roots etc??

on the roots and blow dry upside down?

How do I straighten my hair without losing the volume once I?ve dried it? Or is it best to just spend time on a blow dry to get it smooth?

I'm not sure mousse and straightening necesarily go together.

Mousse is for adding volume, and straightening is for smoothing and reducing volume.

I have shortish hair and used mousse the other week and couldn't believe how much hold and volume it gave my hair. if you were going for the tousled, or wavy look, I think it will work.

Striaght hair? It might make it too crispy.
