So I went into Harvey Nicks and looked at handbags....

cos I've never been in a posh shop before. There were Jimmy Choo handbags (I thought he did shoes?), Marc Jacobs and others I don't remember. And you know what, they were all pretty ugly and each designer looked like every other one. Lots of buckles and gold studs. I wouldn't of paid a fiver for any of them. Nor would I have been able to tell them apart from a bag off the market.
It really is a big fat con isn't it.
And they didn't have prices on them but I did paw them and fiddle. Just to watch the snooty sales staff get all angsty
(scruffy wheelchair bod that I am )

it is slightly worrying what people will pay for a handbag isn't it

needmorecoffee · 06/12/2008 19:42

and an ugly one at that. When we went back to the hozzie (dd is in still after her op) I was telling one of the nurses and I swear she went all misty eyed then owned up to a whole collection of handbags (although not 'named' ones).
I am feeling like an alien!

Oooh but I love drooling over bags in Harvey Nics

needmorecoffee · 06/12/2008 19:46

oh, that was your drool
Thought dd had done it.

OP posts:
needmorecoffee · 06/12/2008 19:47

I'd not been to the new Cabot Circus but given dd is in hospital and we were bored we went for a wander.

OP posts:
MrsClausinJimmyChoos · 06/12/2008 19:47

lol!! Agree though, that there are too many buckles and studs on the ones on show atm..rather..ahem chav I thought...

How is DD doing?

needmorecoffee · 06/12/2008 19:49

she has a shiny new G-tube above her belly button. Still on an IV drip cos she isn't tolerating anything in her tum. But we unhooked her and snuck off to upset the Harvey Nicks lot
Come visit ifn you want. Am there 9 till 4 tomorrow and bored bored bored. Some sisters with their child in next cubicle who have not returned a single salaam

MrsClausinJimmyChoos · 06/12/2008 19:51

NMC - am all chesty (again!) and so is DS...we are bug central atm...he's been asleep since 6pm as so knackered with it but he keeps coughing out - its painful to hear. I will visit when we are all better - when is DD out of hozzie?

needmorecoffee · 06/12/2008 19:52

you should hear me. Its whooping cough at the very least. And it was madam who gave it to me!
But we will make a date so I can watch you drool over ugly handbags

OP posts:
MrsClausinJimmyChoos · 06/12/2008 19:54

Yup yup...I can do most Friday afternoons so text me when you can make it and I'll drive over - bugs allowing...fark me, DS hasn't stopped since he's gone to bed. I tried to get benylin down him but he spat it back out

I want to go downstairs and watch tv but no point as I'll only be up and down to him so am on here instead!

needmorecoffee · 06/12/2008 19:56

there's friday prayers at the uni. If you could make that. Then we can go window-shopping

OP posts:
needmorecoffee · 06/12/2008 19:57

although next friday is the school nativity and dd has a speaking part. Have to go be a rpoud mummy

OP posts:
MrsClausinJimmyChoos · 06/12/2008 19:58

I don't do the prayer thing - don't hear the Imam and its DS's nap time...he doesn't like shopping either so would rather pop to your house if that's ok or you can come to mine? I don't mind

needmorecoffee · 06/12/2008 20:00

easier if you came here. Will be a bit fumbly with the new tube n all at first. She needs water in it every hour.
The last time I went it was a visitng Imam who had a thing about goats. Very odd.

So how much would you pay for a handbag then?

OP posts:
MrsClausinJimmyChoos · 06/12/2008 20:10

Well...I have a Storksak Mummy Bag that I paid £160 and I consider that pricey but I love it so much so its worth it....

IF I was rich and could afford designer handbags....I probably would be daft enough to fork out £400 or so...

Let the judging commence...

needmorecoffee · 06/12/2008 20:14

£160!!!!!
Does it hold stuff 'better' than my fiver one?

OP posts:
MrsClausinJimmyChoos · 06/12/2008 20:16

It holds plenty and I love it so

needmorecoffee · 06/12/2008 20:17

what is a 'mummy bag'? Like a nappy changing bag?

OP posts:
bluebump · 06/12/2008 20:21

OOh I want to go to the new Cabots Circus but I daren't go so close to Christmas as it'll be mayhem...my sister went and said she couldn't even get close to the handbags, she too only wanted to go and fiddle with some to see what the fuss was about!

MrsClausinJimmyChoos · 06/12/2008 20:23

Yes, its a change bag...I'll see if I can post a link...hang on...

MrsClausinJimmyChoos · 06/12/2008 20:24

Blue - Cabot is open until 8pm most nights (except Sun) and isn't too bad on Sundays - its great, I love it there!!

MadameOvary · 06/12/2008 20:37

NMC - I used to be a bag lady and drool over bags in Harvey Nicks too - but DD changed all that.
As I wrote on an earlier thread, I have much more fun in the pound shop these days

MadameOvary · 06/12/2008 20:40

Also, IIRC, the price tags are tucked inside the bags, usually in an inside pocket, so make sure to have a good rummage next time you're in

MrsSeanBean · 06/12/2008 23:36

Hi NeedMoreCoffee - Cabot Circus was shite when I visited. You're right, some of the 'in' bags I've seen lately have been just ugly.

However, I do still covet a Smythson Nancy bag.

Sorry about your dd being in hospital btw. I am such a prat sometimes, forget there are people with dcs in hospital. at trivial threads of late.
