Is a gilet just sensible warm clothing?

Or is it a step too Boden?

DH wants one for Christmas.

nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo
Or women. They are ghastly things.

ChirpyGrinch · 06/12/2008 08:25

Does he need one with pockets fishing?

Only possibly reason a man can own a gilet I'm afraid.

ChirpyGrinch · 06/12/2008 08:25

urk.
pockets for fishing

TheQueenSpeach · 06/12/2008 08:30

He wants one to wear when we do outdoorsy things like go for a walk or go to the beach in winter. It sort of makes sense, practically speaking, but I know he'll wear it elsewhere as well, so I need to know whether I should be encouraging this kind of behaviour.

Depends. I can think of men who could get away with it, and others who couldn't. I wouldn't encourage it in my DH (too short).

ilovejonty · 06/12/2008 09:02

Furry or padded?

missblythe · 06/12/2008 10:24

Padded: yes
Furry: Er, no
Pockety: Good God, you even need to ask?!

MrsMattie · 06/12/2008 10:25

Grounds for divorce.

mindalina · 06/12/2008 10:31

no

TheNewsMongersGeansaiNollag · 06/12/2008 10:55

yes. I know a geeky man who started wearing a green one, and I thought he had become a degree less geeky.

widgypog · 06/12/2008 16:12

padded morth face ones look nice on men

SmilesLikeNoOther · 06/12/2008 16:28

Mmmmm, well the right man can look good in one.

BettyMoody · 06/12/2008 16:40

Non.

mrsmharkTHEHERALDANGELSSINGet · 06/12/2008 16:41

it depends what he looks like in it ;)

Pannacotta · 06/12/2008 16:54

My DH bought a nice choc brown one from White Stuff and he looks good in it and its lovely and warm (I know because I wear it when he is at work...)

shortcircuit · 06/12/2008 17:04

100% yes. DH has a navy down one from Gap & it's great.

BettyMoody · 06/12/2008 17:07

NO and NO to combat pants and 3/4 length trews too.

DoubleBluff · 06/12/2008 17:09

padded ones look rugged and outdoorsy, I like them
