Help! Hair dye disaster

Rosie29 · 04/12/2008 21:19

I dyed my hair a supposed 'golden brown', left it on far too long and now have a head of dark, dark brown hair. Scalp is a bit itchy too. Should I wash it again (dyed this am) Any ideas as to how to tone it down? I guess re-dying is out of the question for a while (am also heavily pregnant) aaarrrggghhh!

It will probably fade with washing.
It probably isn't as bad as you think either, but is a shock.

how long did you leave it on?

bluebump · 04/12/2008 21:38

I heard that if you use an anti dandruff shampoo it fades hairdye really quickly - I heard it from a hairdresser so i'd assume it to be fairly true!

It was one that was meant to be left on for 15 mins (a new Colouriste or something similar), I got absorbed in some housework and I think it was on for an hour! Will wash it again tomorrow with some Head and Shoulders I think we have lurking upstairs. Thanks

Yes, frequent washing with a good anti-dandruff shampoo is the right solution. Vosene was the favourite in my day but anything strong and medicated will do the trick in a day or two

apuppydaviesisforlife · 04/12/2008 22:13

washing up liquid too.

lou33 · 04/12/2008 22:32

my hairdresser friend says baby shampoo or head and shoulders

Beauregard · 04/12/2008 22:34

ah so thats why my hair colour never lasts

lou33 · 04/12/2008 22:36

mine doesnt last either

my mate recoloured it today to a darker shade than recently, because my hair never holds the colour that long, probably because of the perm

i prefer the colour i have gone back to now tho, i felt too light brown before
