Please help me find an outfit for the winter wedding i'm attending <whiney begging>

I'm going to my BIL's wedding on new years eve and i'm really stuck for an outfit to wear as it's all christmas stuff in the shops.

It's being held at a castle and will be indoor mostly i hope. I'm a size 18/20 with really huge norks, 5ft 6 with very pale skin (Almost blue) and dark hair.

I suit really bold colours like plum, raspberry, emerald green etc. I'm hourglass shaped and don't really want to be showing off my arms.

The wedding colour is berry red and my DH & DS's are part of the wedding party so ideally i need to compliment them with my colours. I'm not adverse to wearing black but i just can't find anything i like the look of. Would rather not spend more than £100 is possible it being so close to Christmas.

If any of you have any ideas i would be so grateful , and if i haven't told you enough info, if that's possible ....feel free to ask.

that's not bad mrs o.... but you'd really need to see it in rl... could be really lovely / nasty close up! and you might need something on top i think....

thumbElf · 03/12/2008 23:29

find something in a dark-ish shade of green, I would.

I went to a January wedding and wore a dark chestnut brown velvet jacket and floor-length skirt, with bronze not-sequins-but-long-shiny-bits on - very nice. Got it from Debenhams, Jacques Vert concession.

thumbElf · 03/12/2008 23:35

or this one, but I don't think you'd get it in time and it's a wee bit expensive !

controlfreakyhohohohohohoho · 03/12/2008 23:35

controlfreakyhohohohohohoho · 03/12/2008 23:36

sorry te but those are HIDEOUS (imo)

thumbElf · 03/12/2008 23:39

each to their own

TheRealMrsOsborne · 03/12/2008 23:43

Thankyou, i'm really impressed to have got replies at this time of night .

I don't think those dresses are hideous (That's a bit too strong)the second one is quite nice but i do think it might make me look a bit goth given my colouring.

controlfreakyhohohohohohoho · 03/12/2008 23:46

or a holly sprig?
but each to their own indeed....

thumbElf · 03/12/2008 23:50

dunno, MrsO - I have a friend who has similar colouring to how you described yourself and she has a dress v. similar to that second one but in dark cherry red (too close to your wedding party colours, I would think) and she doesn't look gothy in it. The first one defo would make you look gothy - but it was a bit tongue in cheek as a suggestion!

Can you not find something nice in Monsoon? Although, again, can be viciously expensive... not knowing what your budget is.

thumbElf · 03/12/2008 23:51

ahh, thick as - just re-read your OP

thumbElf · 04/12/2008 00:00

what about this? totally different type of thing to my previous offerings

thumbElf · 04/12/2008 00:01

you'd probably need this with it though

thumbElf · 04/12/2008 00:06

just looked at the monsoon website and they are having a promo until 7th December - you can get 30% off by mentioning the code listed on the site.
