Finding out which colours suit you...

Are there any websites with tips on this?

I know you can go to 'Colour me Beautiful' and have a consultation but can't afford that at the moment.

Does anyone know what the criteria are?

I am wondering if it makes any difference if your hair is coloured (ie not your natural colour) or is it all based on skintone...?

I know some people can tell from just trying stuff on but I can't - I just seem to look shite in everything at the moment.

Either the rules are broken, or I break all the rules I have managed to work out that light pink or light purple suit me though, probably because my eyes are green and they're complimentary colours. Any stronger colour seems to be disasterous but probably because I can never shift the terrible skin and dark eye circles

No, no honestly YOU NEED TO GO SEE SOMEONE AND HAVE YOUR COLOURS DONE PROPERLY. You can't work out what suits you from a book or website. Honest!!

puppymonkey you are right.

(mumi i've got green eyes too)

kalo12 · 28/11/2008 17:39

puppy monkey you are right it can't be done over mumsnet but i think the book is pretty good, but the original book 'colour me beautiful' in the original edition is much more straightforward than later editions.

another vote for the book Colour me Confident- you might get it on Ebay for about £8.

Going back to the OP. What clothes do you have that you get complimented in? These are probably the colours that suit you best.

I have the original Colour Me Beautiful book, but havn't had my colours "done". I fair skin, go red in the sun and after exercise, blue eyes and blonde hair that has darkedned from "post it yellow" as a child, to "dark straw" as an adult. I reckon I'm a Summer.

I suit pastel blue and green; pinky reds and purples. But I knew that anyway, just from how I feel and look in some clothes and what I have been complimented on.

I got the original color me beautiful book from the library - very 80s but totally spot on. If you have dark hair, blue or green eyes and a warm skin tone then chances are you are a spring (like me).

What suits you has nothing to do with the colour, and everything to do with the shade. Springs suit very bright colours.

annoyingdevil · 29/11/2008 14:10

You can work it out easily from the book!

BikeRunSki, my problem is that I don't know what suits me and never really get complimented, apart from DH who says I look lovely whatever (bless)...

I am always drawn to navy clothes, but there must be other colours that would be good on me.

I am going to try to get the book other posters have mentioned.
