Clarins Beauty Flash Balm - how often is too often?

I am needing to use this more and more lately in an effort to look half decent.

I always understood that it worked best if you kept it for 'emergencies', the idea being if you use it too much your skin gets used to it, and it isn't as effective.

Does anyone have any tips on how often you should use it - ie once a week, twice a week, without losing its effectiveness?

I understand that its active ingredient is rice flour, hence the tightening effect. I've heard the same about not overusing it, and balancing price against contents, I'd hold off too.

Sorry I can't be more helpful.

I think its a pile of cack. Use some witchhazel instead.

From the Clarins website:

"Morning or evening, after thorough cleansing and toning, apply (without massaging) a very thin layer over the face, neck and eye area. Apply make-up immediately, if desired. Beauty Flash Balm can also be used as a facial mask 2 or 3 times a week."

Sounds like you can use it every day.

I use it, but only before a night out.

Find it a bit rich for regular use.

watsthestory - I think this is where I've been going wrong - I use it after moisturising (EL night repair serum + Clinique superdefence moisturiser) then, on nights out or rough days, I use the flash balm on top of that lot, followed by foundation. I've not been over-impressed with the results - does it not work over moisturiser? (I can see that the website says to apply over cleanesed and toned skin only )

Can you mix it into your foundation on the back of your hand and then put it on?

I use it 3 x a week after I've showered at the gym. I'm normally boiling hot and my usual moisturiser slides off. I've never noticed a huge difference TBH (it was part of a christmas box present)

Blinglovin · 26/11/2008 11:56

But only after my moisterizer has dried? No wonder I've always been somewhat unimpressed with the product.

I love the benefit one.

Thank you watsthestory
