You know when you are in M&S looking at clothes and hoping for inspiration and you see a skirt that is quite nice and a 75 yr old woman tells you she has the same skirt...................

wtf are you supposed to say?

Am sooooooooooooo depressed about my wardrobe and I thought M&S might solve my problems but I am just not sure about their style and whether it is too old for me and if I am turning into my mother..........

I am 37, large norks, size 14, dark hair and short waisted.

I just dont want to be a frump and maybe I shouldnt shop in M&S (didnt buy the skirt!)

TopShop is too young for me and I love Principles and Monsoon.

Any thoughts?

There are obv some highly stylish 75 year old women shopping in your M & S as they share the same fashion ideas as you

What about Next, East, Coast or Laura Ashley?

i bought my wonderful 80 year old aunt a cardigan from M&S that I would be happy to wear myself!

there are lots of clothing at that store that i could not and would not wear but that cardigan was not one of them.

The M&S Limited Collection stuff isn't old fashioned.

Have you tried Warehouse or Gap? They are not too "young" and can have some really nice things, although in Warehouse you have to push aside a lot of prom-style mini dresses first and it's a bit pricey - good sales though.

I like Jigsaw and Hobbs, but they're not cheap

If there's a Kew near you, it's the cheaper version of Jigsaw and they have some lovely things.

it'll look alot different on a 37 year old though won't it

Nappiesgalore · 23/11/2008 17:59

i def take it as a sign of Growing Old that i can spot things i would wear in M&S.
i'll be booking me zimmer frame next

Majeika · 23/11/2008 18:00

I suppose it will look different on me!

do you know what I mean though? Some of the clothes are lovely but I just wondered if that was because I was getting older....a bit like when you switch from Radio 1 to Radio 2

I would like a skirt and some nice tops I think.......
