DS will be 21 just after Christmas, so I think it's time he was weaned....

...off Lynx

He's been using it ever since he discovered personal hygiene as a teenager, and I'd like to get him something else for Christmas.

So has anyone any suggestions for something that's cool but not too expensive for him to continue to buy for himself (he's a student)

DH is a basic-soap-and-deodorant kind of chap, and my DB uses Wright's coal tar, so I'm not likely to get any help from my family.

I knew this would be about Lynx! I can't add anything useful but I just want to say how much I admire your DB. I love Wright's Coal Tar [mmmm]

Lynx is rancid IMO, they all smell the same. What about sure deoderant and some nice aftershave?

We always had it at home when we were children & DB has never changed - as soon as I walk into his bathroom I get a great wave of nostalgia....

I think men smell nice just as they are myself but I like L'Occitane stuff and Penhaligons and Liz Earle. More expensive but they last.

I buy my dh a nice aftershave each Christmas (Vetiver by Guerlain this year) and it lasts for 12 months.

Thanks for those suggestions - will check them out!

A lot of students I know wear the lacoste range - they're not too pricey and quite light. Or diesel do a nice one that's cheap. The Next mens fragrance is also nice. I would say any of those are a nice in-between between Lynx and a posh perfume

Don't Esprit and Mexx do a man's fragrance?

JackieNo · 23/11/2008 17:22

RustyBear · 23/11/2008 17:23

Gillette do some nice stuff. Deodorant, body wash, body spray, aftershave gel etc. Boots usually do it on 3 for 2 leading up to Christmas as thats when I get DH bits for his stocking. About the same price as Lynx too
