do make up artists and beauty counter people clean the brushes between each person ?

am curious about this...does anyone know ?

My friend is a make up artist for celebs and she has always cleaned her brushes. I think she may have 2 sets, one on and one orf.

what about things like eye pencils which are used directly on the face, and mascara,come to that ? Was just watching Lauren the make up girl doing people's faces in a shop..
