Help! Khaki hair!

I don't know what to do, I dyed my light blonde ( natural but 'helped' IYKWIM) hair ash blonde, and it looks awful!
It's a dark greeny grey colour; what should I do?
Can I home dye again with a caramel blonde dye? Should I go and have some highlights? Will I have to just suck it up and leave it like this?!
Help please- I'm mortified!

What is it 'help' with before?
the dye may have reacted to this 'help'

I usually use light baby blonde, but it hasn't been touched for about 9 weeks so shouldn't have thought it could be that could it? Ooh I hope not, I am such an idiot, why didn't I leave well alone?!

use vosene a couple of times and see how that goes

Mum2OliverJames · 19/11/2008 10:44

i probably wouldnt suggest putting more dye on top of it unless it is going to be dark enough to cover it (my friend ended up ahving to dye her hair black to try and cover up her khaki green hair.

Is it perminent dye?

TheSoapEatersMum · 19/11/2008 10:44

Thanks crankycrane, will nip out later and get some, does it matter which type?

no, it should strip some of the ash out

TheSoapEatersMum · 19/11/2008 10:46

Mum2OliverJames, yeah it is permanent

this sounds nuts but it works i promise

cover your head in tomato ketchup, wrap a plastic bag around it and leave on for an hour
wash
repeat if necessary but probably won't be needed

Ronaldinhio · 19/11/2008 10:48

please don't dye over it

Mum2OliverJames · 19/11/2008 10:49

i know how upsetting it is ruining your hair, by the time i realised i should stop dying my hair my hair was like elastic. i havent dyed my hair for years now and suprisingly like the colour (never used to)

i think dying your hair every 9 weeks maybe a bit much, definately so it it contains bleach

TheSoapEatersMum · 19/11/2008 10:56

Ronaldinhio, lol it does sound nuts, but I'm gonna try it! Will tomato ketchup it, then wash it with vosene! ((crosses fingers))
Thanks everyone!

DON'T DYE OVER IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I've been there. If the tommy ketch doesn't work, then you have to take your chequebook and go and grovel to your hairdresser.

I did this with Herbal essences hair dye trying to get ash blonde over grown out highlighted hair. It was truly green with a touch of ginger. My friend at work got the pantone colour chart out and it was an actual shade. Hideous. Had to go to a hairdresser to sort it, never used home dye since.
