We're going to a presentation night in two weeks. The blokes are in suits so it's a posh do...by the sounds of it, most of the women/girls are in dresses.

I'm really not one for wearing dresses

What do you think of this outfit:

Is it too casual? if so, what about this:

I'm a size 12, 5.10" big hips, so don't want to wear anything that will make me look fat or frumpy...

That's the problem, they're not fat but I have a little tattoo on my shoulder I hate it and don't want it showing.

like the trousers best. But rubyis right you'll need good upper arms for both outfits or some kind of cover-up til everyone is drunk.

MrsSnape · 17/11/2008 20:59

What about this top?

www.next.co.uk/shopping/women/goingout/34/7 with a pair of shiny black jeans/trousers? Won't be that actual top but I have one very similar...

I like the dress better - I know they don't look like it but anything that is called 'jeans' in the catalogue doesn't feel right if th men are weargin suits. And it's easier to wear a brightly coloured shawl or something to cover your arms when you're wearing a dress rather than top-and-trousers.

shootfromthehip · 17/11/2008 21:04

The first outfit is too casual, the second is lovely and the last top is nice too. Would need tidy hair/ makeup and some lovely shoes so that it doesn't look too clubby imo

angelene · 17/11/2008 22:10

Love the second one, I think the first is probably too casual and I don't really like the last top.

weepootle · 18/11/2008 11:04

I think the dress is nice. The first outfit is truly horrendous.
