First off, big thank you to MN and Freeview!

Right, to business. I have had pretty much nothing new in the last 5 years. I need cardigans and a coat.

I am around a size 16, and build like a broad shouldered box (3 babies in 5 years...). Medium height. Dark hair, quite pale skin. In essence, I need stuff that is well cut, in dark colours.

Am thinking this for coat

but cardigans? So much choice!

Please give me your thoughts

(I reckon with discount codes I can go up to £350 btw, but I'm getting stuff for the kids with at least £100 of that. Luckily, dp does not like boden stuff. )

I usually buy a couple of Boden things a season, and so far have not noticed the quality issues that other MNers have ranted about mentioned in the past.

I hadn't bought anything for several months because I was pg, so Johnny showered me in discount vouchers and I now live in my "Toasty zip through hoody" and "Denim Shirt Dress" for smarter.

aha now I have buy 3 get 1 for £1

I think I shall play hard to get here

Thing is, me and knitted dresses are not a good match, really not. I am best avoiding boots or skirts or anything like that really.

I am a leeeetle tempted by their cardigans but they have sold out of what I want anyway.

I do like that coat though...but why on earth not in full length purple velvet?

DON'T buy the denim shirtwaister dress thing (would provide link but I can never get them to work).

I bought one and it's virtually impossible to get out of. Actually, it's not that easy to get into either, but once it's on, you begin to think you'll either have to wear it for the rest of your life or take the kitchen scissors to it. Eventually had to turn it inside out and have all the children pull and pull in manner of Enormous Turnip before I escaped from it.

Hurrah for free returns.

Nice coat.

I would wait for the spring/summer cardigans (not long to wait) as anything Boden with wool in it bobbles like crazy. The cotton summer cardigans were great though.

NomDePlume · 18/11/2008 18:42

Ok. £350

This top is fab and this colour is lovely

The cord coat (I have it) would be great on your build, but I do think that you need to be at least 5'6" for the length to not make you look dumpy!

This is fab but you do need to have a waist

Safe but nice

I know that's just over £350 but hey ho.

Fillyjonk · 18/11/2008 19:59

oooh am 5'6.

Am convinced re the coat

What I NEED is cardigans though. Boring I know, but that is what I have not enough of.

The cord coat does seem rather...well stocked. Am wondering, if I time it right, possibly it will be in stock on sale at the same time as the spring collection ...

Do you have to spend it all in one go?

Friend has the cord coat and loves it, but I had one from two years ago and the quality wasn't great. Had the merino v neck in purple which was gorgeous but sent it back having washed my two summer ones and not been happy with the result - lost their sheen and went a bit bobbly.

I really must get a life before I start going round giving snappy quotes about myself to strangers, "hi, I'm BG and I like jumping in puddles and my guilty pleasure is cocoa"

bikerunski · 18/11/2008 22:08

I object to misshardbroom's comments!

I love my denim shirt waister and have not trouble getting in and out of it!

misshardbroom · 18/11/2008 23:35

fair enough, bikerunski, good for you. Personally, I'm a size 10 with no boobs to speak of and I got horrendously wedged in it. Think there's also one or two bits of feedback on the Boden website from other people with the same problem.

Hope you look as nice in it as I hoped I would
