Need sleeves for under other things...

I haven't posted much on mumsnet but some of you ladies are great when it comes to style questions so i thought i'd give it a try.

With so many things over the past year or more being short sleeved or 3/4 length sleeves i'm really struggling in the cold.

I need some sleeves to wear underneath.

I have a beautiful merino wool top from icebreaker but hope for a couple of slightly cheaper options.

Any ideas?

p.s. existing one is a little like this: www.icebreaker.com/site/icebreaker_woman_nature150_delta_scoop.html?thumb_value=Teak%20%2F%20Sprig%2 0Print

uniqlo LS love these

so snug, warm and cosy - rises up a bit but fine when tucked in. Its made out of some whizzy fabric that doesn't make me sweat. I have versions of all of them and their tights seem great too !

fluffles · 13/11/2008 16:47

wow - looks good. and sooo cheap! have you any idea how the sizes come up? i'm a 12 usually...

brimfull · 13/11/2008 16:49

uniglo sizes are quite generous

TheRealMrsJohnSimm · 13/11/2008 16:56

How about this from Top Shop?
www.topshop.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?beginIndex=0&viewAllFlag=&cat alogId=19551&storeId=12556&categoryId=74424&parentcategoryrn=42325&productId=742492&langId=-1

I have a couple of these. They are really fine knit t's - more dressy than the standard basics in their store. And are also quite long so good for tucking in to eliminate drafts! .....OMG....am clearly middle-aged!!

Bugger. Link didn't work. Try again.....

can second the uniquo ones, they are fab! I've got 5 now and have been wearing them to death for the last couple of months, since it got cold and they are really good. Cheap, wash well and really keep you noticeably warmer without being too stuffy. i got my DP one of the mens ones too as he was complaining about being cold and he is wearing it as a vest under his shirts. We are sad matching couple, but comfy and toasty.

I am wearing the S ones which fits me perfectly (8-10) - the sleeves fit me perfectly on the long sleeve ones which is unusual as they are normally far too long as I have short arms so less stubby people might be better off with the M.

SilentTerror · 13/11/2008 17:34

Uniqlo for me too. Also New Look have some close fitting long sleeved cotton tees with scoop neck for £5,these are great too.

janeite · 13/11/2008 17:38

New Look, Gap or M&S for long sleeved Ts. The Gap ones are a bit thin, the M&S ones are a bit short - the New Look ones seem okay.

fluffles · 13/11/2008 19:03

Has anybody ordered from uniqlo online? (i don't live near london)

suggy · 13/11/2008 19:50

Online uniqlo are absolutely amazing. The best and quickest I have found. I am in medium uniqlo - a 10-12 on top, its prob a bit on big size for body but my arms are chimp like (knuckles dragging on floor). Wait for a weekend as quite often they email out free P&P

bikerunski · 13/11/2008 21:41

Primark LS Ts in stripes and plain colours, about £3.

mumto2andnomore · 13/11/2008 21:45

Was just going to recommend Primark too ! Very cosy, great for £3 and wash well.

MatBackFeck · 13/11/2008 21:45

I was going to say, last week they emailed me a free P&P offer for the weekend - I think I am on the mailing list from ordering online before - no problems, arrived quickly. You can probably join the email list from the website and they often send offers through.

I have to say uniqlo are my new favourite shop at the moment - as well as the heat tec tops I've got a lovely Parka and a woollen dress recently and have been getting all Dp's shirts and jumpers there this year. I am stingy when it comes to clothes at the best of times and with the old credit crunch blah di blah they seem very reasonable to me. And the quality is much better than the super cheap Primark type places.

The only thing with ordering online is they often have 2 for 1 type offers in store which they don't seem to reflect on the website.

weepootle · 13/11/2008 22:30

I second New Look, I've got close-fitting, long-sleeved, scoop neck tops in just about every colour for wearing underneath things- all for £3-£5 each.

tonton · 14/11/2008 10:43

I'm wearing one of those Uniqlo heattech things right now - fantastic! off to buy lots more....

Wizzska · 14/11/2008 14:08

What tonton said. They're really good - and cheap.

Aefondkiss · 14/11/2008 19:10

can anyone tell me which size is best... uniqlo small is 8-10, but medium is 12-14... I am 10-12 (big boobs) what size would be best?

tia

LaTrucha · 14/11/2008 20:18

this is good as it is nice and this so doesn't bulk up.

MatBackFeck · 14/11/2008 22:14

I think on the boob front not so important as they are quite stretchy. As i said in previous post though, the sleeves are quite short on the S. It fits me perfectly, I am normally a 10 on top but larger boobs too but I do have short arms (everyother long sleeve top I have bought has been too long) so I am thinking maybe the medium??

I think they are allright about exchanging there if not.

They should be paying us for all this free advertising, but they are great.

MatBackFeck · 14/11/2008 22:16

And yes I am also wearing one as we speak!

I am sure they do work as I have just been wearing a gilet type thing on top rather than a big coat and I normally have to really wrap up as I really feel the cold.
