Need advice on sizes in Next

I want to buy some cords and/or washed velvet trousers from Next, but I don't know whether to buy a 12 or 14.

I bought some size 14 bootcut jeans from Next, but they only fit for about 5 minutes after being washed and then they are clearly too big. I do have some 12 slouch jeans from Next that are fine, but I have tried on some other size 12 jeans in Next and I can't get them anywhere near done up.

My bum and thighs aren't too bad, I suppose, but my post-baby belly is getting in the way!!

Obv cords and velvet do stretch but I don't know. I'm also unsure about length.

Any helpful suggestions?!

If it's any help i recently went to Next to get some jeans, have been the same size for about 3 yrs and haven't put any weight on yet needed a size bigger ..... not sure if their sizing has changed. Also cords will 'give' a lot more than other material so will get bigger the more you wear them until you wash them again ! I went to Sainsbury's (TU) in the end and got some half the price in the 'right' size. My advice = shop around !!

i'm the opposite of Becky - i go a size smaller in next (for most things. i think their sizing though is a muddle - twice i've tried on trousers size 10 and thought they must be a 14 (and even double checked the label)and once tried on a size 8 pair of jeans by mistake and they fitted!

Length - i like next for length, i must be the right height (unlike in Wallis were i must be a wee shorty as the trousers are always too long for me).
