Where do you buy your tights?

Have basically lived in trousers for about the past 10 winters but this year am venturing into the realm of skirts! I only own black tights, a couple of pairs from Tchibo, and they're fine, but fancy something a bit funkier
Who does good ones that don't cost the earth and wash and wear well?

TIA

I bought a nice stripy pair in Next and then some plainer ones in Tescos but they are nice feeling.

purplemonkeydishwasher · 11/11/2008 17:07

got some really nice ones in Primark. £3!

Posey · 11/11/2008 19:13

Wolford tights are pricey (£10 approx) but they last for ages and wash and wear really well. Good value on a price per wear basis.

shangrila · 14/11/2008 11:14

I second Wolford. You hardly realise you have them on and they last and last.

You can sometimes get a good deal on them in TX Maxxxxxxx. Though it has to be said, the colours there are sometimes a little 'challenging'.

Posey · 14/11/2008 20:09

Thank you for that suggestion. Will have a look at them (and am a big fan of TKMaxx so will see what they have - may even be tempted by something "challenging" as long as it isn't yellow)

I usually order my tights online at Sock Dreams. They have a vast selection and offer great advice on fit and other details. Big thumbs up!

PeaMcLean · 15/11/2008 22:07

Marks's. Though I only do thick black ones.

Anyone care to show me something more interesting?

controlfreakyBANG · 15/11/2008 22:08

woolford.... but opaques more like £16 ime. buy a couple of pairs each winter in good colour (dark steel grey and fuschia pink this year) and the rest from m and s. this year they have cotton and cashmere autograph ones for £9.50 which are properly luxurious and fab....

hoxtonchick · 15/11/2008 23:12

falke ones are gorgeous. fenwicks on bond st have the best selection. i have just bought some fabulous stripy ones (& don't look like my 3 year old, oh no ).

mrsmaidamess · 15/11/2008 23:13

Bennetton have some lovely colours.

BlueCowStillWondering · 16/11/2008 07:00

I always seem to do well in Boots. Always in there anyway! and they fit me well. Particularly like patterned (sometimes opaque as well) as they somehow last longer - wish someone could explain how - and also look more interesting with skirt and boots.

SheikYerbouti · 16/11/2008 07:30

Sockshop are good. Their online service is fab

HaventSleptForAYear · 16/11/2008 15:35

I haven't yet dared wear my stripey ones yet Hoxton, have chickened out!

hoxtonchick · 16/11/2008 18:09

go for it! i wear them with a plain knee length dress & long-ish boots so you only see a few cm of stripe . dd & i have practically identical ones on today...

smurfgirl · 16/11/2008 18:13
