Has anyone had it done and how long does it last?
I am blind as a bat without my glasses and find it impossible to apply mascara so wondered if this was worth trying.
Can anyone recommend it?

I used to use the one from Boots. It lasts a few weeks and is easy peasy (as long as you don't poke yourself in the eye with the wand). Your lashes won't look as thick as they do with mascara, but it's definately worth it!

I get mine done all the time in the summer, its ideal for holidays etc as you look as if you're wearing mascara during the day and it obviously doesn't run if you're in pool.

I find mine last about 3 - 4 weeks (blue/black tint). They look even more fabulous if you put some clear mascara on.

Oh, also meant to ask I get a girl I know (home visiting beautician) to do mine. I think she charges about £9. Don't think I'd attempt to do it myself.

I have done this for years, and do my brows too. How fair are they? If very fair then well worth it, get it done professionally first time perhaps, but is easy enough to do yourself. Dylash or something do a kit that costs around £10 in Boots. Use blue/black though for the most impact. I use the brown on my eyebrows.

Investing in 30 mins a month to do the whole lot saves time applying and removing makeup every day. Yipeee!!!

Having just re-read the OP, since you can't see very well to apply mascara, am guessing tinting yourself isn't such a great idea! Most salons charge about £14 for it.

Oh and if you have never had it done, while you are there, get your brows shaped properly. This makes the most difference to how I look - even men notice I look 'better', they just don't know why!!!

I get mine done, also get my eyebrows shaped and tinted too. I can highly recommend it, I am a redhead with very fair eyelashes/brows and it always makes me look loads better.

It lasts about 4 weeks, and then goes a bit 'stripy' as the new lashes come through

I have done it myself (bit of a faff, but results are good and the black blobs I always manage to get under my eyes go away within 12 hrs, so I do it before bed) and also have it done in salons. Have to say that the salon version is much, much better and lasts longer IMO. Really great, makes a huge difference to my pale and sparse lashes.

harleyd · 10/11/2008 15:14

oh its great, i love it, especially with clear mascara. in a salon though, not sure i would try diy

angelene · 10/11/2008 15:16

Oops, sorry for double post, not sure how that happened

Wizzska · 10/11/2008 17:19

I do it for beach holidays. I get it done in a salon though. It is good, but I would say choose the blue black option rather than brown black which is too subtle. Because unlike when you wear mascara, your lashes don' t thicken, it is quite a subtle effect so the darker the better IME. That's why clear mascara is useful - but the whole point for me is not to have to bother with mascara.

glitterfairy · 10/11/2008 17:21

I used to do it every four weeks but apparently if you keep doing it it weakens the lashes. It is fine every now and then though and I like the effect and not having to think if I have no make up on.

KatieScarlett2833 · 10/11/2008 17:23

I have a standing appointment for DD and I every 4 weeks. We are cursed with dark brown hair/blonde eyelash, eyebrow combo. Not a good look.

FourArms · 10/11/2008 17:30

I get mine done for every 'special occasion', so not continuously, but probably 4/5 times a year. I love the look. I have dark blond hair, and also go for blue/black tint. Never had my eyebrows done though as they're darkish already.

Furball · 10/11/2008 17:35

I get mine done every 6 weeks and pay £13.

Sidge · 10/11/2008 17:52

I've been having mine done for 20 years as I am very blonde - I also get my brows shaped and tinted but not every month, more like every other month. I get blue/black as it looks much better than brown/black.

It's worth every penny IMO.

gibba8 · 10/11/2008 19:12

Thanks everyone for your replies.
I am very blond and do not wear a lot of make up so think I may try the brown/black first. I was going to try the beauty spa at the local college because they do it for £4 but on second thoughts I think I will try a reputable Beautician.
