Think I've found my dress for the party season, now please help me with the shoes!

I tried this on yesterday and loved it, very flattering! It disguised my upper arms (which aren't as toned as I'd like), hid the lumps and bumps in the midriff area and even my modest cleavage looked good. I was really looking for a little black number but actually like the red colour and DH likes me in it, so I think this is it.

But what do I do about shoes? Is black too obvious? I have a nice pair of silver/grey peep-toes, would they be ok? Warning: I'm 5'11 and don't do high heels, so finding party shoes isn't easy... Thanks for any help!

M&S tend to keep their heels quite low. Is there anything here that you like?

What about these L K Bennett purple suede kitten heels? Or this red satin pair?

Another low heel in a soft gold colour. Here's the bag to match.

I like the gold ones. I think avoid black , the silver grey ones will look fine with it but it's very in to be bold with colors so you could definately wear the purple suede see the celebs have been doing it this year
see here

Ooh, I love the purple suede ones, and I could just about get away with that heel (nothing higher though so a lot of the others are out) - unfortunately they're a bit too expensive, I think I need to keep it below £100 It's a great idea to go for a bold colour combination though! I actually have a very similar pair of suede kitten heels in dark green - they might work? Or maybe that would be too much of a Christmas theme

red and green are a no unless you are getting a cotton wool beard as well!!

christmassy but nice imho
gold

I prefer the Clarks gold with that dress. The dress is very classic, so I think a very modern colour combination like red dress and purple shoes would look a bit odd.

I do wear red and purple together myself, so it's nothing against that.

My2Monkeys · 09/11/2008 18:49

LOL Ronaldiniho, that's what I thought. That Viva la Diva site is good, I love the red kitten heel peep toes, but am not sure I want to go for red, maybe too much of a good thing?

Missblythe, I like all 3 of your suggestions, but think the first 2 are probably too chunky since the dress is so classic and "flowy", and no 3 are too high unfortunately (look great though!)

Yeah, maybe the Clarks gold ones! The price is good too

those red kitten heeled peep toes come in purple too.............

My2Monkeys · 09/11/2008 19:03

Oooooh, they're lovely in purple! Not sure if it's dark enough to look good with the dress though... That's a great brand, never heard of them before, will definitely bookmark the site since I'm always looking for low-heeled shoes.

Hmm, maybe I can be convinced to go for the red ones after all... It's the best heel I've seen, very low yet elegant!

These would go well if you wanted red.

My2Monkeys · 09/11/2008 19:14

Nobodysfool, they look perfect, except that I don't think I could walk in them... I know, pathetic (and I used to wear decent heels too)
