Hundreds of years ago when I was a teenager...

My mum had curling irons which curled my hair for about an hour then it all went frizzy

Same went for a heated brush

Heated Rollers gave a lovely curl - but took ages

Drying with the diffuser just may it wild

Nowadays a straightener will really straighten my hair and it lasts for ages

But I really want curls

So is there a newer version of tongs (or something completely different) which will give smooth curls that last for ages?

My straighteners can do curls too and I think it works quite well a lot of my friends do it. I've got GHDs but I bet other ones would do the same too.

these days they curl hair with straighteners

there is an art to it but not too difficult

a hairdresser did my normally straight long hair in loose curls/waves the other day - she used mousse and a rough blow dry first, slim straighteners to make the curls (as in the youtube vid) and then hairspray to hold it. It was great, took about 5 mins and lasted a day - probably would have lasted longer but I wash my hair every day. I burst out laughing when she told me to blow dry my hair upside down - I am 37 and she was about 19 so had no idea why being given advice straight from Jackie 1984 was quite so funny. It did look nice though.
