HELP!! How casual can I dress for works Christmas 'Do' ?

I absolutely dread this time of year as I spend at least 3 months trying to work out what to wear for the dreaded night out. Its so ridiculous as most people love going out and getting all dressed up - I hate it! I feel silly in anything other than jeans/fat face casual trousers. I really have no idea what will look ok but wish I could dress more casually for such events. I feel so self conscious for the whole evening if I wear a skirt or a dress. Oh what can I wear?!

Black trousers, black top, nice necklace? That would probably be fine for most nights out (unless it's black tie).

Sounds good P&L! Sounds so simple and straight forward. I think its because the shops are full to overflowing with glitzy stuff that I go into a blind panic!? I shall hit the shops tomorrow to see what I can find....

How about a rock-chick look? Dark jeans, funky t-shirt with a bit of sparkle on, belt round your hips, high heels and lots of make-up.

Much better to be under-dressed than over-dressed.

I am like you MDS! I long for there to be a reason so I don't have to go, even if it means the dc being ill(how awful is that!!?). I think black trousers are definately the way forward. Thanks!

Miss E, I don't think I could manage the high heels without looking like I have a rod up my backside!!! I have tried them before and it wasn't good! The rest sounds good although make-up is another issue!...

Maybe I need to rename the thread - Can anyone think of an excuse not to go to the christmas party?!!!
