Chubby Chubberstein wants DVF for wedding

I'm 7 months post baby and still packing extra pounds and I'm a short size 14 with big boobs. Feeling very frumpy and would like to look nice for a wedding in 6 weeks. So, I tried on a lovely DVF wrap dress which I could vamp up with shoes and jewelry. My dilema is that I would very much hope I could lose a few more pounds before wearing the dress, but I dare not buy it in the next size down.

However, I also think, "don't buy an expensive dress when you're feeling/looking fat as you'll regret it if you do lose the weight and can no longer fit into it." SO, do I get the DVF in my current size (and blow my clothes budget for many months) or get something less expensive??

Know exactly how you feel JFly and if I were you, I would go cheaper.

A dvf wrap dress should be a timeless addition to your wardrobe, not something that is too big for you!

HolidaysQueen · 07/11/2008 21:14

Agree with ewe.
Places like Monsoon do lovely dresses for big boobed ladies (I should know!). Save your money so you can buy the DVF dress when you have lost your last few pounds. It is exactly what I am planning to do (keep looking on net-a-porter and matches to decide which one!!!)

You could try Ebay for a DVF.

Which DVF dress do you want?

JFly · 08/11/2008 16:12

Oh ladies, I know you're right. I want this one.

ive had a dvf dress for 6 years,i bought it in a 10 and am a twelve now and it still fits.

I am a great fan of Phase Eight wrap dresses and atm they have a 25% reduction. Just got myself a lovely black spotty one that is very Nigellaish but can put a camisole underneath for work.

I have recently lost weight but find that they are quite adaptable.

JFly · 10/11/2008 10:00

Actually, I have noticed some nice things in the window at Phase Eight. I think they've revamped their style this season. Will have a look!

how about these?

rookiemater · 10/11/2008 13:23

hifi - you do know that those are maternity dresses ?

mamaspanx · 10/11/2008 13:30

i recommend getting this or something similar. my problem when i'm post baby, apart from feeling over weight is feeling lumpy and these type of things help. for my it makes everything flatter smoother and the puches on the back of my hips disappear. they dont roll down or cause and problems and are cotton at the gusset so you dont have to wear under pants.

JFly · 10/11/2008 13:58

Yeah, mamaspanx, I have a pair of spanx actually, but I find that they flatten my butt too much. Do you rate those ipanema ones, then? I've also got this corset-type thing that I wore this summer and although it was mighty uncomfortable, it did hold in the wobbles. Might show through a wrap dress, though.

mamaspanx · 10/11/2008 14:24

i'm mama spanx at the moment because i'm wearing them and they do help!

the ipanema ones seem great, although i haven't tried any other brand before and just to let you know a DvF outlet store is/has opened at the bicester village, lots of other great stores too. jimmy choos to go with as well??

hifi · 10/11/2008 14:30

sorry jfly i misread and thought you were still pregnant

Eniddo · 10/11/2008 14:36

I think they look a bit frumpy tbh

I have a black one and I always feel I should stick a lable on the back saying 'i have big boobs and am a bit overweight'

JFly · 13/11/2008 10:01

There's quite a cute dress at Bravissimo actually. I hesitate to buy "clothes for women with big boobs" but, if the dress fits and is flattering, then who am I to judge? I think I'm resigned to no DVF for now.

Oh, no probs hifi! Those dresses are very stylish, no matter.
