have a Jan wedding to go to, invite specifies cocktail. Have black dress (kind of elegent/ classic) and silver accessories including pair of peep toes silver shoe/sandal type things. What do I do about tights???? Everything tells me nooo but surely without I will freeze?? Also my legs will not be at their best at that time of year. Have thought about fake tan but wouldn't that look odd in the winter??
Can anyone help?

tights are very much in fashion but they have to be dark or coloured! but its a no no with open toed shoes, maybe you can buy some shoe boots and wear tights???

I see, I think you are confirming my thoughts, what do poele normally do at this kind of thing then, just go bare legged?

oh just re read cocktail? well i have a jan wedding too and its cocktail (are you sure its not the same wedding?) i have a black and white dress but its shorter and will be wearing tights and shoe boots! Been to many gatherings which have said cocktail but only a handful of guest go the full hog and wear long/ evening....

MrsBadger · 06/11/2008 13:17

wear black opaques and get closed toe shoes

barbie1 · 06/11/2008 13:18

Well if you really must go bare legged i suggest a tinted body lotion to give you just a hint of colour???

MrsBadger · 06/11/2008 13:18

cocktail means short

overbuurvrouw · 06/11/2008 13:19

I'm with MrsB on this one.

Open shoes are not rally practical for most January days, anyway.

pippo · 06/11/2008 13:23

Don't know barbie, could be!
Think my legs are a bit stumpy for shoe boots..
ok, dress sits just below knee, but is very simple and well I don't know how else to discribe it really.
Mrs.B will opaques go with that kind of dress?
In fashion mags the models with the opaques all seem to be in puff ball type things or satin, iyswim?.
You can tell I don't get out often!

Ok so will buy closed toe shoes,
Is a bit of a funny one as invite states cocktail/evening dress and starts at 2pm. Has left me flummoxed.

What about something like these

TrillianAstra · 06/11/2008 13:29

I think you can get tights that have open toes on them, there's a sort of band across the bottom of the toes, but that won't show if you have peep-toe shoes. Get some of these, in leg-colour if possible.

FimboGotAxed · 06/11/2008 13:29

Yes you get seamless toe tights

TrillianAstra · 06/11/2008 13:30

Hope this works

pippo · 06/11/2008 13:30

thanks Fimbo am liking that idea, the model has on peep toes and they look ok I think.

TrillianAstra · 06/11/2008 13:30

Maybe not 'cooling' ones, but you get the idea

FimboGotAxed · 06/11/2008 13:30

I think for a fiver they are worth a go.

pippo · 06/11/2008 13:31

thanks Trillian, they are like fingerless gloves for toes!!
