asda do some very good 'homey' things get nice vases , candles etc.
they also do some nice girly bedroom stuff for not a lot of pennies.
congrats on your new home hope you and your daughter will be very happy there

i was thinking of going for one bold colour like dark pink, orange or turquise for max impact what do you think?

well i have cream walls and then i have used orange, burgundy and black as colours but in accesories- so yes i think that could be an idea at the end of the day i always think that if you use accesories as your'colour' then you can always add or subtract as you think.
how exciting to have a blank canvas i bet your little girl cannot wait to do her room.

makeovermylife · 04/11/2008 19:08

well shes only 17 months, its going to be pink with animal paintings

sorry have no pics don't even know how to load em on to computer lol
by the way sorry did'nt realise your lo was still a bambina.
the general thing is i have black cushions with an orange and burgundy stripe. and then orange and burgundy throws i know this all sounds vile but honestly i think it looks good and people do comment how nice and 'cosy' it looks.
i took my colour scheme from an original papyrus picture that we got in egypt and have as i said kept walls cream so it is'nt too dark ifyswim.

What WBACO said. I'd go for two or three complementary colours as accents rather than just one.

Congratulations on your lovely house.

lilacclaire · 04/11/2008 19:46

Im really liking turquoise/bluey green stuff just now.
I have a lovely painting in these colours, curtains and cushions in what is an otherwise neutral coloured living room. Look for lamps in your chosen shade as well.
Oh and my fire has a nice light blue flame on it.
Nothing needs to be exactly matching, in my previous house, it was done in shades of terracota/yellow/creams with mahogany wood.
Doesn't sound very nice, but was lovely.
