I don't. never have really. didn;t like my belly much before kids. like it less now. I don't think I'm fat or even that my belly is anything other than "normal". it's just a bit white and a bit floppy. no big deal. I don't have hang-ups about it. I'm not wallowing in some crisis of self-confidence. I just prefer not to put it on public display. am I weird? (I was virtually the only person in a one-piece on holiday. dh said I looked "positively Saudi Arabian")

no because I like swimming and you really can't swim in a bikini and emerge from the water still looking decent (well I can't at least )

and since dd (third baby) my lower tummy has gone all sort of corrugated so I don't like looking at it - don't care what anyone else thinks

FrayedKnot · 03/11/2008 21:56

Yes, when in my normal guise

TheSmallClanger · 03/11/2008 23:09

I do, but it's an Adidas sports bikini with shorts for bottoms.
I prefer a two piece as they are more comfortable for me, and don't ride up your bum so much.

giraffescantdancethetango · 03/11/2008 23:10

I dont like hot beaches/sunbathing etc. If I am in swim wear its to swim so I wear tankini or swim suit.

Liffey · 03/11/2008 23:11

no. I'm not ashamed of my body, far from it. In fact, in a way that doesn't show on the outside, I'm pleased that it's healthy and it 'worked' had two children etc...

But I am not inclined to parade my body. I'm not hideous. But when I bend over, ears come out of my stomach. Just don't see the point of wearing a bikini.

Swimsuit more stylish.

scaryfucker · 03/11/2008 23:19

only stylish liffey if cossies don't turn into butt-munchers

I have a very long body (am tall) so can never find a cosie long enough, they tend to drag my tits down too

Not a good look.

Since my tits are already half way down to my waist and my tummy ok'ish, I find a nice underwired bikini top and bottoms that tie at the side most flattering for me.

katch · 03/11/2008 23:20

I'm with mimsmum - even when no one can see me I don't want to look at a loose wrinkly cushion - too depressing. As long as the costume has boob support I'm much happier.

scaryfucker · 03/11/2008 23:20

cosie=costume

cupsoftea · 03/11/2008 23:22

I wear a Landsend swim skirt & top - perfect

hatwoman · 04/11/2008 10:36

Liffey - that's exactly how I feel too. But I'm starting to doubt my judgment - dh thinks it screams a lack of self-confidence - and someone on here said that too. And when I realised taht I was the only person wearing a one piece I went from feeling stylish and looking good to feeling frumpy...

I've never owned a bikini in my life. Not only does the world not need to see my pasty white post-section tummy, when I swim I do fairly vigorous lengths and dread the idea that either the top or the bottom would undo itself and go floating off into the next lane when I did a tumble-turn.

Liffey · 04/11/2008 16:13

hatwoman! tell your husband he's wrong .

There's no wrong decision that equals lack of self confidence, not when it comes to picking swimwear imo.

I'm confident actually, confident enought to make a decision to wear a swimsuit and not even notice who else is wearing what.

Blondilocks · 08/11/2008 20:02

I always wear one as I find it easier to get one that fits - one pieces are usually to long in the body. Wear it to the local pool too. I am 24 & slimish (although no thanks to a week all inclusive holiday )

It's my thighs that I don't like & unless I wear a wetsuit no swimwear will solve that problem!

OH wondered why I'd bought a tankini this year. Can't imagine what he'd say about a one piece swimming costume!!
